Eastgate Food Emporium

Went to have their half price sushi on Thursdays. Good quantity for the price and there were a nice variety of options. The rice was a bit over-cooked but the flavours were great. It was pretty busy and we waited about 50min for the food. The service was fine and atmosphere was alright. Update: Order the Tom Yum soup Hot with Chicken and thank me later!

I was absolutely disappointed in the sushi. I went there because I saw good reviews about it. Regretted instantly. The Nigiri looked like they ran out of Salmon so they improvised. The hand roll was small compared to what I’m used to. Portions themselves were quite small. I love salmon roses so much but what I had there, I’m not sure what that was! The rice seemed over cooked. The dim sum tasted exactly the same for all 4 pieces yet they are supposed to be different flavours. Ai… overall experience, I was very disappointed.

Oh Wow! Sums up our experience at Simply Asia Eastgate last night. We decided to try out their sushi special which was absolutely incredible. The sushi was some of the tastiest sushi we have ever had, fresh and delicious - their menu offers a wonderful selection. Service was good, staff friendly and efficient. There was obviously a slight wait due to the sushi special demand and preparation - but overall an excellent experience and great value on their special. This huge platter, with 2 coldrinks and the bill wasn’t even R300!

Been going for the half price sushi at this location for a long time but over the past 2 months the service has drastically dropped. Quality of food has dropped beyond measure. The sushi sizes are clearly going through recession. Last Thursday, we went for our usuals, and what we received was very disappointing. The prawns ontop of the sushi had be fried up then cut it t half. So instead of getting 4 full fried prawns on the sushi we pretty much got 2 prawns on a 4 piece order. We notified our waiter who told us they had run out of prawn becos the shop was busy. This is after we had waited for our order for 1h15mins. We asked to speak to the supervisor who agreed that it was not meant to be that way and offered that when we come next Thursday, she’d have them prepare our order for us, on the house. We decided okay let’s give them one last try. We called in yesterday and placed our usual order. On arrival, we told our waiter about the supervisor’s offer from last week as she had said she’d leave a note. No one seemed to be aware of such note or arrangement and the supervisor present was also clueless. He called the other lady supervisor and it was sorted. Bill time came and the bill had items we had not ordered worth R94. We told our waiter who tried to scam us further saying no the sushi on the house had been subtracted from the bill. Which was incorrect. They had noted Hot prawn tempura x5 when in fact we had only had 3 and 3 other types. My sister had to bring out her phone and do a physical calculation. The apologies came but I had almost paid had it not been of my sister’s attention to detail. She noticed the bill was almost as high as it normally would be if we’d ordered a bottle of wine, but we had not. Moral of the story, pay attention to the bill when you go to simple Asia eastgate. Bill was almost R100 over

Horrible! The spring rolls old minimum 3 day. Sea food gummy and unbeatable. Tom Yum far away from even an idea of what it should be. And they are not ashamed even when leaving the dished untouched they presented the bill, asking me to come back. Freshness in food is the most important thing. At thus place forget it.

Was my uttermost favourite simply Asia , factoring that I would drive from the south passing mall of the South and the glen mall. Until yesterday when the staff and the rude senior whom I think is the manager gave me a reason to never considered buying at simply Simply asia Eastgate mall ever again. Truly disappointing.

Had dinner last night and it was delicious. Service excellent and generous portionsFood: 5/5

Very accommodating with the serving of sushi , i requested no avo and no cucumber, which they happily assisted with, sushi was good. Only takes along time to get, staff are ok, nothing more than the basic service. No real atmosphere, its a sit down outside type vibe, no real scenery or music or anything to more to create anything extra to the experience.

Tasty food, Nice service, Great staff Food choices: Noodles, Fried Rice, Sushi, .... Will come back

Staff are always friendly. The food is always great. Great prices.
