Essence Cafe Hillcrest

I loved the vibe that this restaurant gave me. The setting was really nice but I did think that the oreo milkshake I had was a bit expensive and the staff weren't exactly the most friendly but they weren't terrible either. I would definitely go again I think it might be better if I went with a group of friends instead of alone like I did.

The welcome and service was good. Food was flavorful. We had the calamari starter, crumbed button mushrooms, garlic and herb focaccia with a bacon brie pizza. Have to say that the focaccia and pizza were amazing, made in a clay oven too. The calamari starter had a tad bit too much lemon juice... other than that all was well. I would strongly recommend pizza here.

R52 for two bottles of still water. Probably the most expensive water in hillcrest. Don’t recommend supporting a business that steals from customers with a smile. Won’t ever support this business again. Absolutely shocking.

Not really keen to visit again. The time waited for a pizza was over 45 minutes. Staff were oh well. Pizza was fresh but not worth the wait.Food: 3/5

Guys, those muffins are inedible. Please get your kitchen to try them. We had the carrot cake muffin yesterday, it was dry, tasteless and overcooked. Just terrible. First time I have ever had to throw a muffin out. Won’t be back.

I ordered a peri-peri chicken burger with mixed berries crush, it was so nice, the atmosphere is awesome. My waitress gave me the best service ever, and the place is so clean, I'll definitely come back for another meal, big thumbs up
