WHAT A JOKE!!! I picked up a car from them, did a pre-inspection, signed it off. On return, no post-inspection was done with myself present. I then got told there was a chip on the windscreen and my card was debited R5000!!!!!! There is definitely some kind of scam running at PE airport... I'm still waiting for the refund on my deposit of R 1 800,00 I WILL NEVER USE FIRST CAR RENTA AGAIN!!!!!
My insurance company arranged a rental car for me as my vehicle was in for repairs. When I took the rental car back,it was inspected and i was given clearance that everything was fine. The next day late in the afternoon an agent phoned me and said that there is a scratch on the car and i must complete an accident/incident form. I informed her that no accident or incident occurred while the car was in my possession. She then claimed that i was the first person to rent the vehicle and must still complete the form, but not sign it. This makes absolutely no sense. How can i be told that the vehicle is without any damage and a day later be asked to accept responsibility for a scratch that could easily have happened after i have returned the vehicle. I will definitely advise friends not to make use of this company’s service or if they do to be on the lookout for this kind of thing happening to them. I am of the intention to report her to her head office. I also read through the other reviews and low behold there is a review where the customer had exactly the same experience that I had. I wonder why……..
We have requested a breakdown for our deposit refunds numerous times now and still have not received this. We rented three different vehicles from first car rentals port Elizabeth, two through the insurance which we paid the deposit and one privately when the deposit was higher than the two we rented through the insurance. It has been more than two weeks since the vehicle was returned that we hired privately and we have still not receieve our refund or any feedback. This is rather ridiculous. The consultant that we rented the last vehicle through at the airport branch did not even do the vehicle inspection with us, my husband and I had to point put to my brother in law that the car is so new less than 4000km and the hub cab's are scratched on the one side then when we returned the vehicle the consultant called us two days later to say it was us which it definitely was not. I will never ever rent a vehicle through first car rentals. I await a urgent response regarding the refund as this is completely unacceptable and unethical.
Called in on 03 September 2021 at approximately 16.30, attempting to remind First Car rental to come and pick up their rental vehicle. The operator first spoke to me and could hear me very clearly, when I didn't have a reservation number as it was for a client I represent, she pretended that she could not hear me and put the phone down in my ear. When attempting to call back there was no answer, a clear indication that she was avoiding the incoming call. Disgusting customer service and I will not recommend this company to anyone.
Stay away from these scamers. Returned the car with full fuel and they do charge me 270 Rand for refueling. Absolutely unprofessional employees who obviously put money in their own pockets. Never had such an unreasonable customer support. Never again with First Car Rental.

So...... collecting a booked vehicle, I was informed of a 11,000 holding fee on the car. Defi itely not mentioned when I booked. They wete too happy to take my money and not tell me the conditions before the time.
Returned a vehicle just directly after fuelling it up to the First Car airport station. Though, they afterwards charged me 111 ZAR for fuelling up additional 8.3 litres !!. The gauge showed a full tank when returning the vehicle. Even if you fill up the fuelling nozzle until it sips out, that's not more than 1-2 litres. Completely unacceptable for me. Didn't have that issue with First Car in Joburg.
Fast service, the vehicle was in an excellent condition. They really have the best rates for unlimited mileage in South Africa, I highly recommend them.
This company will keep you busy with incorrect paper work for ages, and when you attempt to log a complaint or issue the site is “ currently down, please try later”. Not worth the frustration and effort at all
