I live around the Greenstone area and have always ignored the Food Lovers Market restaurant but no more. The centre has a variety of restaurants that just seem hospitable and fancy. This little restaurant by the corner offers more and is well worth it. I had their full breakfast breakfast and it was indeed filling. It consists of 2 slices of bread, 2 eggs, 2 Cheese sausages, Mushrooms, 4 bacon slices, a tomato and coffee. I opted for Rye bread at no extra cost Yeah, the other restaurants charge you for that. You can even opt for Almond milk or Oat milk This is great for Vegan and Lactose intolerant patrons at no extra cost What? Other restaurants charge over R10 for that. Our waiter even threw in some extra chips for us. The service was amazing considering it was on the morning of New Years. The waiters are nice and pay attention to patrons. The food gets to your table within minutes and it tastes really fresh, delicious and well prepared. The pricing is fair and portions are really generous. I will surely visit more often to try their lunch and other breakfast options too.
This is one of the better Food Lovers Market. Centrally located in Greenstone/Edenvale. Offers a great range of products at fair value. The highlights of the store is the amazing fresh selection and assortment of herbs and spices. The nuts and fruit are also great. The restaurant Unfortunately isn't as great and lacks in variation and qaulity of offerings. My daughter's rates their food as a 3-4 star. I'd say that it was more 3 star. However, the store is great and the range is great. Overall very happy.
The place is nice and clean, my heartbreak is the false Expiry date on this product. I bought these rotis yesterday 14 February 2023 at around 17:20pm , We paid at the express till and I was with my sister show as wearing a black cap and long camouflage pants. Along these rotis we bought Green grapes and a 2l cold drink and paid cash. We parked at Stoneridge for a while avoiding traffic and drank the cold drink then left around 10 to 6. When I got home I put the plastic with everything in the fridge and went straight to sleep, the rotis had no spots on them by then. As I woke up to make breakfast for the family and heat up the rotis, when I opened the plastic to check if what I'm seeing is correct, the rotis have green spots on them and have all spoilt, I had to check them all one by one and all of them are rotten. I'm very saddened as we live extremely far, I could have drove all the way back to food lovers today if I could, I'm extremely hurt because cost of living is very high for people to be throwing away food they bought without even eating it , throwing away an entire R40 I could have bought loaves of bread with, but because my family was craving rotis, we bought them. What hurts more is that whenever I come to Longmeadow for business, j buy things at this Food Lovers , and I've never experienced anything like this on the produce, I'm beyond saddened.
We bought noodles that were on special only to find out they expired on the 14th of December 2022 , the other packet expired in September 2022 and the others in October 2023. These products were bought yesterday 14 February 2023. After having opened one packet , the taste was off so we checked all the packets we had bought only to learn they were all expired. I'm very disappointed in their service as a first time customer at the store. Please see pictures below, this is not right
Huge variety of fresh vegies, general goods and meat. Prices are on par with most stores. The amount of Cooked foods are really great, just a pity that it is all so scrunched up and not enough room to move around. Same goes for the pay/till area, people standing in lines obstructing the hot food areas. Otherwise, this is a good place to shop.
This place was great when it started. Now you have to watch the food you eat when it's from there. A couple of times had food that was off. if it's reaches its sell by date throw it away... losing credibility quickly
This is the worst shopping experience I have had in a long time. This store is so poorly managed and needs a major shake up, As a pensioner I am most dissapointed at the quality of the fruit and veggies on show. . Pap blueberries and strawberries etc They are mostly limp and tired . The fact that they throw all sorts of semi expired half frozen meat on open counters for all and sundry to spit and cough over is disgusting . I visited the Food Lovers in Sunningdale in Cape Town which is an absolute pleasure compared to this disgusting third world establishment at Stoneridege . You will not see us pensioners again as we have our pride
We are regular clients at this store, but last Friday we were very disappointed in cleanliness and behavior of the staff. The floors and counters were dirty. When we arrived at the pay points, we called for a supervisor to complain It is a food store after all. She just said she will ask 'them' to clean. The attached photo doesn't show a clear reflection - it was much worse. Staff are also load and shouting at each other, which is very annoying. Your till points are also to close to each other. Lastly, your Garlic Biltong tasted like soap or some chemical - not good at all.
Will not be supporting foodlovers market again. Bought Chicken that was rotten and the carrots had mold on them. Disgusted.
The kitchen and bakery is absolutely terrible. From dry chicken to dry pastries. The kitchen staff didn't even want to help us warm up or toast our food. Then there was the waiter who wanted to chase myself and a friend out of their cafe in the middle of winter because we had takeout containers. Apparently the space is plates only even if you got the food from THEIR kitchen. Us takeout folks apparently must eat at the outside area next to the trashcan and atm - I can't even be mad at this; it's just poor business.
