Beautiful museum with rich history! Got to see a history of kings around the area as well as a museum all about art, pottery, and beer making! So many beautiful artifacts and a lot of things to read and learn about if you like history!
Informative guided tour of the Fort Thobane for a minimal fee R40 and interesting tour of the art at Vukani Centre by Sethembisa. The Fort needs a lick of paint, and to honour the current Zulu kingdom an update is needed on the final board since 2021 - when the throne was passed down from late King Goodwill Zwelithini to son King Misuzulu Sinqobile kaZwelithini. The curio section at the Vukani Centre sells a few well priced items - clay pots, reed baskets, beadwork items. Unfortunately the beading project and the restaurant seem to have closed during the pandemic.
Great place, interesting history of the Zulu Kingdom and our guide Ayanda very knowledgeable and friendly. These places need to be kept up to date and well maintained to preserve the rich heritage of this area and the country in general really.

Detailed informational boards about Zulu and colonial period history, interesting historical items on display. Staff were friendly, informative and engaging - Mr Diemont the curator is very obliging. There's no entrance fee as such, but a guided tour, with a mandatory tip.
Mr Thabani Ntuli knows what he is doing & he know the museum from A-Z especially the history of Zulu Kingdom & how Chriastianity started here in South Africa,I can rate him 10/10
Cool fort. Has a cute butterfly dome, restaurant and curio shop. Unfortunately, probably because it was a Sunday, the service at the place was real slow and the restaurant was booked out for a function so we couldn't eat there.
Old fort and museum in great condition and very knowledgeable tour guide Thabani. They insist on your taking a tour guide, but if you treat it as a museum entrance fee, you're getting a great personalised experience. The area is safe, and there is some interesting bird life purple-headed lourie/turaco.
Had a nice chat with Johannes Diemont the curator. I hope to come again in the future.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
