Such a stunning hidden gem in the middle of suburbia. This well looked after park is perfect for family picnics and sunday strolls, and please bring your doggies with as this park is completely dog friendly. Its entirely fenced in and secure. Spend the day lazy around or playing with the kids, this park is unbelievable with its view of Table Mountain and is quiet serenity!
Calming. It's the perfect park to take a refreshing walk outdoors, breathe in fresh air, and admire the beautiful natural sceneries.
I had an amazing experience there it was great to see the whole Capetown with all its human beings doing human beings things.... A lovely chill spot.. Always be vigilant if you are adventure seeking in the mountains
A few of us ladies like to get together to celebrate our birthdays, we had 3 this time. we brought camping chairs and picnic blankets. And lots of goodies. We had a wonderful time. We stayed a while, recharging in nature felt good. We often do the same in Camps bay and Seapoint. Sometimes some of the ladies felt a tad bit unsafe , in this park it gets a bit quiet, but the paranoia is cos we live in Cape Town. The only other issue was, there were no restrooms. I suppose it would be expensive to keep it clean and safe. Although we liked being in nature, I'm not sure if we would go back though. It's not like it's an ultimate destination. Just a big park, with a little lake and ducks and a park, jogging track, dog walking track, nice for the surrounding residents. Playground: Kiddies were having a ball Restrooms: There are none! hope you can hold all that cooldrinks you had at the picnic... Dog-friendliness: Lots of doggies coming for walks Picnic area: There are a few tables but we chose a clump of trees for shade a little privacy to enjoy a delicious picnic, we stayed a few hours, breakfast to lunch. Mmm lamb and veggies with yellow rice under a tree is amazing, with cake an tea after. Yum
Beautiful park, but due to lack in maintainace from the city the reeds and pond scum has taken over, the water is becoming toxic, this can be attributed to the numerous visitors feeding bread to the birds and throwing it in the water which turns the water toxic, doesn't provide nutrients to the birds and the mould is deadly people let their dogs run free and don't pick up after them. I have observed numerous visitors with their children throwing the rocks at the wildlife , and chasing them. Pollution is also rife , it's a pity as there are sometimes good birding opportunities and worth a stop if you're nearby.
Not too bad for a dog walk. The pond is not well kept. If you just need a breather thats close then this should suit. But there are better parks in other areas i would prefer to visit. This area is just an ok spot. Would not be going out my way to stop in here
Plattekloof Duck pond is truly a marvelous picnic and photography location/area. I know I did a shoot here once.
Beautiful park I had no idea was there - amazing for doggies and their humans... well worth a visit.
Wonderful walk through the park on a lovely winters day.
Fantastic place for animals and people alike always well kept
