Description

The garden is separated into ‘People and Plants’, ‘Wetlands’ and ‘Discovering Biodiversity’. Beds are planted according to vegetation type, so you can see which plants typically grow in sandveld, renosterveld, mountain fynbos, coastal thicket etc. Cleverly, these sections are laid out in such a way that when the signs prompt you to look up, you can associate which of these vegetation types grows on the surrounding Signal Hill, Lion’s Head and Table Mountain. They even have a lawn garden, so you can test the softness of various indigenous water wise grasses between your toes!
Educational boards throughout the garden are entertaining and clear, and provide useful information such as ‘dead logs are great homes for lizards and geckos’ and ‘how to keep a healthy pond in your garden to attract frogs’. Beaded animals and metal sculptures are cleverly tucked into the vegetation, my personal favourite are the moles, poking their heads out of the earth! If the Cape heat is overwhelming, there are picnic tables, benches, beautiful drinking fountains, and shady spots in which to sit and absorb the view of your surrounds, and the paths are wide enough to allow for wheelchair and pram access. Water bodies are dotted across the park, acting as a boundary to the golf course and drawing lots of birds to the area.

The best place for exploration and fun for my soon to be 4 year old granddaughter! I just loved observing her while she explored the water and traipsing around the play area. Lots of shaded areas allowing for social distancing! She just loved the swings and spent more than one hour in it! The lovely picnic tables in the 1 to 6 year old area provides for lovely moments shared whilst having a snack! Then off to the swings it is again! The ponds are amazing too with all the fish and ducks! I enjoyed watching the children attempting to capture some of the fish using coffee cups or bottles...
When its hot even the animals got to get cool. Lovely park in the centre of Cape Town to get out for a stroll. There is a outdoor gym area, well work out area. Not my thing. But coffee from the restaurant and a stroll by the pond is my thing. Nice place to enjoy. Good security around as well.
This park is very nice. It’s so green and lush and perfect for a picnic on a beautiful summer day. I love going here with friends. If you do go to this park, look out for the ducks swimming in the pond, they are so cute !! This park also has a beautiful view of the mountains, an educational biodiversity garden and a great view of the Green Point stadium .
Definitely a "Big 5 stars" for this one! Free to enter and fun activities for the whole family. I do not think there is a way to review this place. It is worth a visit as there are endless things to be done. From outdoor activities, walking the dogs, running, cycling, ball activities, exercise, play park, sprinklers for the kids, picnic spots and fish in the pond. Gosh what a mouthful of stuff to do in one spot. You would literally need a full day to enjoy this spot with family/friends as a few minutes would feel like seconds.
Beautiful Landscape, Awesome Park for Families to picnic and for Everyone to Relax ‍ and Enjoy the Outdoors. You can walk your fur babies, there is a walking trail through the park where you could read up about Biodiversity and see all the plants ,Vegetation and even walk right up to the Lighthouse. There is also 2 play areas for kids ,1 for junior and the other for a bit older kids .The toilets are clean and staff friendly .Lush gardens ,wide open spaces. Wonderful
There's so much offered at this park! Loads of seating, an open field to have a picnic, kick a ball around or walk your dog/baby/yourself. There's a restaurant, a child's play area jungle gym area, a separate dogs park with a drinking fountain for dogs, poop bags, bins and friendly doggos, an outdoor-gym, loads of areas to walk and explore, including a little maze hedge area, art sculptures, fountains and ponds with fish, a separate no-dog area to walk around and look at plants, and amazing views of the stadium, golf course and mountain. Beautiful park, kept very clean with separate bins for recycling. Absolute must!
Everything was wonderful. The sights around the area was beautiful, like the lake. I do suggest going early before 10am because the park is hard to get and going around 14 00pm is a bad choice because the park is overcrowded. The peaceful morning better then a overcrowded afternoon. Can deliver food when you there. Just be careful of the big flies that bite is painful Restrooms: Restrooms are always clean but that Oct 2 it wasn't that good. Dog-friendliness: All the cute dogs was runic around and trying to beg for snacks Picnic area: Nice and big
I haven't been at the urban park in over 3 years and what a pleasant surprise awaited me. The lush, green lawns, the magnificent site of our mountain, the beautiful trees that provide shade for everyone, the busy, lots-to-do park, the bio walk, the ponds, the fish... Can't wait to go back, chill and take in everything.
Refreshing, well as a nature conservation student it was a good experience for me, taking a walk around exploring different types of vegetation. It's perfect for picnic with the kids, your friends even with your partner. It's free entrance. Restrooms: They are disinfected, there are toilet paper rolls available. Picnic area: Clean, tables can accommodate a handful of people
Can't believe this place is free! Absolutely stunning, amazing setting. Very well kept gardens. Perfect for kids all ages and adults. Perfect for picnics
