One of the best experiences Watch whales closely from Hermanus while in South Africa. Try to be there in the month of October till mid November for sighting maximum whales while they are migrating. Numbers lessen by the end of November. Captain was too good to take u closer to view a mama whale preparing baby whale to swim and be ready to migrate. We were lucky to even sight a seal very close to our boat.
Hermanus is really beautiful with its spectacular landscape. It is a quiet town and a perfect getaway!! Would love to have stayed over. Perfect for Whale Watching...
Had the most amazing experience with this company! Despite the harsh conditions strong winds and currents they still dared to take us out. Before going on the boat, they explained that it's never a certainty to see the whales. When a whale is seen, they're only allowed to go as close as 50 metres whale might get closer to the boat, but not the other way around. When we got out onto the ocean, we eventually got surrounded with whales! We saw about 8 in total, and spend about 20 minutes in between te whales. All in all the whole cruise took about 1.5/2 hours.
Amazing tour & the staff are so friendly & really make the trip worth while. My 2 guest's from Switzerland were very happy. Definitely recomend to use them. Funtastique Shuttles &Tours
Wonderful and memorable experience. Were able to see quite a few whales up close
We did not have great expectations of seeing whales- quite late in the season. However the eagle eyed crew spotted whales breaching fairly soon & we spent 1/2 hour watching 2 mothers with calves. Amazing experience. Thank you to the crew
Friendly helpful crew, we were lucky to have good weather conditions we saw at least 2 whales. The number of guest was too much for the size of the boat, yes everyone has a seat but when it comes to watching the whales standing around, the place was crowded and many didn't have the chance to watch "comfortably" and get good pictures. They didn’t serve any thing not even water but also we didn’t ask if they have anything on board.
This company is a scam! Please avoid them - they are just trying to make as much money as possible, not caring for the customers' experience or their safety! We had previously booked a whale tour with another company, which cancelled the tour due to bad weather. That day, all other companies cancelled due to bad weather, except the Hermanus Whale Cruises scammers, so our hotel booked us with them. When we arrived, we enquired why they didn't cancel, and if the weather would be a problem, and they assured us it would not be a problem because their boat is bigger than the others. Well, the horror trip lasted 1 hr instead of 2 hr, we then had to come back because of the storm, and saw no whales. I'm sure that, the same way all the other companies had seen this storm coming, they had as well, but decided to get people's money anyway. We then asked for a 50% refund, which they agreed to to keep us quiet, but guess what..after a month the refund never arrived and they told us the bank won't let them refund us, because we can't prove we actually paid !!! Which is absurd since we paid with card and have sent multiple times proof of payment ! Please avoid at all costs. There are many other companies in Hermanus that won't try to scam you. And if this is the only company going on cruise while other cancels, remember that they are trying to scam you!
Price is high. 1200Rand for just going near whales and no too close .. just like wrapped up the boat trip about 40 mins and too many people onboard which feels the price is too high. Whales weren't too far to watch, just in 20 mins we were around whales so not price worthy.
We saw whales but no great thanks to this operator. Left to wait 45 minutes under pretence of a 2pm sailing listening to boring time-filling BS when the boat wasn't even there then waited even longer for the most loud and selfish bunch of twits to arrive and further ruin the experience. Terrorised a bunch of whales into fleeing from anywhere near us in a loud and fumey old boat whose captain never once switched off the engines, whilst watching quieter, more modern and smaller vessels sail peacefully around breaching and diving whales... Which is presumably why we stayed out on the water for an hour longer than they promised, missing our dinner reservation and losing our deposit on it. Embarrassing tourism. Amateur hour. At over R1000pp a complete rip off also in a country and region that is otherwise so genuine and offers such great experiences. Avoid these clowns
