Really good lunch. Quaint aesthetic, with an escape room feel. Place is packed with vintage memorabilia, a bit like taking a trip down memory lane. Food was delicious, really large portions and very satisfying. Loved the tables and chairs, each seat different from the next. Would love to go back. Really well worth a visit.Food: 4/5
Fabulous place! Careful of the staircase but so worth the climb. Huge menu. Great service. Definitely a must visit.
For a" fine" dine establishment to serve gin on "TAP" bloedlemoen which has its own unique taste with blue candy floss is such low bowl...... the server Eugene has no idea what he is doing and tried his best.......I paid walk out without tasting the food, I'm from joburg world traveller and a foodie and I will not be back. I own a hoiluse in parys and will not recommend this restaurant to any person.
Well we stopped for a snack and something to drink and then enjoyed it do much we went back later for our meal .Food: 5/5

Hoi Polloi is a quirky little restaurant in the main street in Parys. The decor inside will keep you entertained as there are so many little bits of memorabilia hanging from the walls and ceiling. The tables are ornately decorated with stunning crockery and glassware, but also strange objects. Unfortunately I found the busy tables a bit of an annoyance as we had a giant glass dome blocking us from chatting to people on the other side of the table. The service is slow. We had to keep flagging down our waitress when we wanted something, and the drinks and food took ages to get to us and the restaurant wasn’t overly busy. When the food arrived some of the dishes were lukewarm instead of hot, so had obviously been sitting at the kitchen for a long while. The disappointment mainly comes from the food. It is all presented beautifully, but unfortunately lacked substance and flavour. The Lamb Shank was perfectly cooked and tender, but quite bland. It comes wrapped around a roti which was dry and chewy. They smear a bit of green sauce inside but this doesn’t add much to the flavour and isn’t nearly enough to make the roti more enjoyable. The Gnocchi was the best dish we tried. A rich, creamy sauce and soft, pillowy gnocchi. The Truffle Risotto was nice but there was no sign of truffle being used in the dish, making it quite plain. The Abalone starter was a few tiny slivers of abalone hidden in a mound of risotto. You can barely get a taste of the abalone. They also put the accompaniments of guacamole on the far corner of the plate, rather as a decoration than part of the meal. Seemed quite silly to add that. The cocktails were just overly sweet. The ones we had were packed with either sorbet, marmalade or syrup. They were pretty to look at but hard to drink.
Very quaint place, food is amazing with large variety of choices. Really enjoyed the meal and lovely feel. Great service and friendly people.
Great food. It was quiet the day I was there but friendly service and inside is really quaint and typical Parys antique nature. I will be backFood: 5/5
Great experience. Had the pork belly as a starter, tbone as a main, and milk tart and malva pudding for dessert. Waitress and staff very friendly, arty ambience with antique furniture use across the room, on wall, fittings and seating. Loved it. Especially that they were pet friendly.
What an incredible gem in the heart of Parys. One expects a brewery in the traditional sense and what we experienced was above and beyond. The food, service and general atmosphere and ambiance of the restaurant is something with a more international or even european feel. Do yourself a favor and request a table on the top floor and inside to get the full experience. They were full and busy so we could only be seated inside, and when a table opened outside, we actually chose to stay inside and enjoy the beautiful music and vibe. Definitely a new permanent stop when we come to Parys in future.
