Indian Embassy Durban

I have recieved excellent service from this consulate now on 2 occasions. They are considerate, helpful and really take into account personal difficulties. At other consulates in the same country, I have felt utterly defeated, hopeless and frustrated after my interactions with the staff. But at Durban they show a willingness to listen and a genuine concern on how to solve the matter. In these times of COVID when an emergent matter arose and travel was inevitable, they made the process of fast-tracking the VISA so much less difficult! I must thank Adheer forgive my spelling if incorrect, Mr Pathak and all others who made a concerted effort to assist me. I am very grateful. I have to sort our my OCI application and I am glad that it is Durban I have to deal with for that.

I have been to the Embassy since 2009. Since I am in Higher Education specializing in Socio-Linguistics & History & work with colleagues at Universities in India I decided to apply for OCI. However, much to my disappointment, the process was tedious, frustrating. While the Immigration Officers Indian Nationals: past & present I communicated with, were polite, courteous & helpful, the woman who is a South African is unprofessional, bureaucratic, & simply rude. On many occasions she would have an answer ready without even listening. Sadly, she would dismiss other people's queries & fellow colleagues with the same disdain. What was most disgusting was her defensive stance & her public blaming of a previous colleague for some error, undermining his position, while revealing her need to be in charge. She has no-inter-personal skills. What she said of others revealed her own person. As a fellow SA, I felt embarrassed at her lack of collegiality & basic work ethics . An embassy, in my humble opinion is a space that should display a particular ethos, it is the microcosm of India. One understands the need for careful attention to detail & accuracy, however, this can be done in a humane manner & applicants will comply if treated with dignity. A mere bureaucratic functionary, like her brings your institute into disrepute, more so, since India of all nations, represents diversity, inclusivity & multiplicity.

Indian Embassy. Go in the Kingsmead Office Park and second exit of the roundabout, first building. But if you want to apply for Indian Police Clearance, go to VFS in Cowey Rd 4F. But, only for Indian nationality..

Trying to get through to the offices all the lines are never answered.. unsatisfactory services.

Useless, they can't even help you with a single thing.
