Set in the breathtakingly picturesque Maluti Mountains between the Golden Gate Reserve and the quaint village of Clarens, Kiara Lodge offers an encompassing retreat with easy access to explore nearby attractions. Large grounds ensure that you get to enjoy the peace and quiet, and with a choice of apartment style or freestanding self-catering chalets, there is a unit to suit everyone's needs. Our on-site staff will help make every bit of your holiday as comfortable as possible and you can find them, ready to help, at reception.

Nature 5/5 , the views are spectacular and we absolutely enjoyed the tranquility the mountains had to offer. Great to escape the city and spend family time, read books and enjoy nature. The birds and bunnies are an absolute joy to watch. Play area 5/5 the kids had a blast at the indoor and outdoor play area. The hiking trails are absolutely amazing. Cleaning 1/5- dishcloths and dishes were both dirty and the kitchen dustbin didn’t open fully, making it very difficult to dispose simple trash. The bedding had so much stains and dust on and inside the room and kitchens cupboards. The couches needed to be Vacuumed and definitely needed a good clean behind as there were many dead insects. They vacuum on a Thursday yet the unit is dirty from Friday when it’s a new check in, which means they don’t do a thorough clean before anyone checks in hence why I found sugar on the kitchen chair and a dead spider on the shower wall which hasn’t been cleaned since our entire stay. A definite routine cleaning calendar, thorough cleaning and more cleaning staff if their budget allows for it. And please wash all bedding before new check ins including the scatter cushions and blanket. I would definitely love to visit here again should they work on their cleanliness of the units and if possible offer bigger beds for couples who have kids under 3 that still go-sleep.
Kiara Lodge is a must visit! It is set within a beautiful mountain range. The accommodation is stunning and we loved all the activities. The indoor swimming pool was a massive hit as well as the outdoor play park. The restaurant offered a range of craft beers and gin on tap We will be back!Rooms: 5/5
Good place for a family. It has lots of activities for kids to keep them busy. Loved the heated pool and the putt putt. Friendly staff. I think the shop and the restaurant could use with a variety of things they sell. The showers need doors as the water just splatters all over the bathroom.
A great family holiday resort. well maintained. excellent facilities for the kids. This resort ideally situated. Nearby the town of Clarens. There are various types of chalets to choose from, 8 sleepers, 6 sleepers and 4 sleepers. 2 sleepers are also an option. the 4 sleeper was neat, well maintained and modern. The appliances were new and clean. The linen was changed and clean. The chalets are serviced daily and clean linen provided. The staff were helpful and available to assist. Friendly and able to provide good help. Parking is ample and very close by to the chalet you book and the area is well secured with security presence as well. There is a gated, security controlled access. the entertainment provided will keep the entire family busy. the pools were clean and well maintained. lots of available space. braai areas are available as well. the lodge is wheelchair friendly in most areas. You will find The entertainment caters for the whole family. The restaurant was good and has a decent menu. There are good walks and hikes. The places nearby are also good to sight see. The views on the mountains are spectacular all around.
Girls weekend - we had an incredible experience at Body Bliss Day Spa. The ladies whom assisted us and treated us were friendly, calm, helpful and really went out of their way to ensure that we were fully catered for and had the best possible experience. Our jacuzzi was hot, the champagne was cold and our bodies were in complete holiday mode from the second we stepped foot into the door. Thank you for a beautiful experience! We will be sure to visit again when next in Clarens!
Fantastic accommodation , great staff , facilities , scenery , horse trails , hiking , majestic mountain scenery. Newly renovated resort . Without a doubt we will return. Well done to all the staff .Rooms: 5/5
Beautiful nature all round. No loadshedding felt due to generators. Lots to do and also chance to be peaceful. Absolutely loved it. Staff very friendly and helpful too.Rooms: 5/5
1. Kiara Lodge needs to put parkings at all facilities restaurant, games room and massage. I had to get soaked while walking every time as it was raining during my stay. 2. Games room can be improved. 3. Food is expensive but tastes terrible and took 1 hour to be made each time. Even though at times, my family was the only one in the restaurant. We travel a lot and I must say that I was really disappointed.
Had an excellent much needed delayed mid year break. about 3 hours 30 min drive from Johannesburg, roads aren't bad getting there except for a 15km stretch where some bad potholes. on arrival staff were friendly and welcoming, we arrived around 11am, check in is only at 3pm but we allowed onto the resort to use the facilities and to store our meat and food products in the chalet to avoid it from spoiling while waiting for the room to be prepared. Also forgot our phone chargers but the staff at the restaurant charged our phones for us free of charge and felt safe and secure to leave phones at the restaurant. The shop sells a variety of grocery items like milk, cold drink, bread , the necessities, but a bit pricey and open till 8pm which is nice. The resort facilities are great, with great views, awesome heated pool which was never over crowded, my kids aged 4 and 8 enjoyed the indoor water slides tremendously which are for under 12 years old and were able to go about their business on their own without our help. however there isnt anyone monitoring and you do find older bigger kids on the slides doing abit more radical things which i found a bit dangerous to the younger ones, with pushing in lines as well. change rooms were clean and services regularly. There are cute little rabbits all over the resort in abundance, The resort I found to be very family friendly and kids were able to play freely and make friends easily which was great, Only downside experienced was the paddle boats which we were looking forward to was quite boring and just a large water pond with nothing to see and 2ndly the Rock climbing and gorge swing wasnt in operation for the week of our stay as we were told the operator was on training, which was extremely disappointing, there was no contingency plan in place and it was the only adult/teen entertainment, besides that and the hikes everything on the resort I would say is for 12 years old and younger. A HUUUUGE Plus is load shedding doesnt affect this place, they have solar power and generators for the load shedding kicks in, wifi , lights etc still on no impact . There is a great little place for pancakes about 15km before the resort, R7 a pancake and convenient store for all needs. Overall will visit the resort again, enjoyed our stay. :-
What a beautiful scenery. A must to visit. Maintenance needs a bit of firm hand. I am not disabled but due to surgery I was wheelchair bound during our week stay and unfortunately the resort is NOT friendly to disabled people.Rooms: 4/5
