Shumba Valley Guest House is situated in the Eastern Free state 8 km outside Fouriesburg on the R26 to Ficksburg turn off on the S293.
We are close to Clarens and Golden Gate.
Shumba is conveniently close to Calendonpoort Border Post into Lesotho and only 95kms away from Afriski Ski Resort.
We offer 3 self catering units The Cosmos sleeps 2 adults (Queen bed) and 2 children (Bunk beds), The Zebra sleeps 2 adults (Queen bed) and the Sunflower sleeps 4 adults (one King bed (or 2 single) and 2 single beds )and 2 self catering cottages the Falcon sleeps 6 adults(I double bed 3 single beds and sleeper couch) x 2 children (Bunk beds) and The Franklin sleeps 5 adults(Double bed 2 single beds) and 2 children (Bunk beds) I sleeper couch.
Shumba is surrounded by mountains with awesome sunsets and our units and cottages overlook beautiful peaceful gardens teeming with bird life.

The "cottage" was well fitted inside, but it had no view of the surrounding mountains whatsoever! You have to walk a few hundred meters to the camp site or drive around to enjoy the scenery.  No enjoying the view while you braai at your cottage, etc. Shower didn't work at all the first day and the response from the owners were just "it happens some time".  Didn't work very well the rest of the the time either.

Fantastic quiet a peaceful location overlooking the mountains of Lesotho. I used the camp facilities which were great. Bob and Lyn were very accommodating and welcoming and helped fix my tent which had a broken pole. Bob has great local knowledge and gave me some great routes around Lesotho and the local area. It was that nice I stayed for a 2nd night after returning from a very wet ride in Lesotho. I stayed in the accommodation this time which was also very nice, spacious, well furnished and quiet. A fantastic stay with lovely hosts. Thank you.

Needs a bit of renovation. Roads are a bit full of potholes , but overall an amazingly peaceful, picturesque destination  Rooms: Rooms need an upgrade  Nearby activities: Vlarens, Ionia Cherry farm. Xtreme adventures  Safety: Felt very safe  no high walls etc  Walkability: Amazing hiking trials

Superb hosts that went out of their way to ensure we were happy. Bob and Lynette shared fascinating stories of life and the history of their area. The wisteria in full bloom was beautiful. The surrounds stunning and beautiful. Very safe tooRooms: 5/5

Bob and Lyn were wonderful hosts, taking time out of their day to chat and get to know us. The campsites were absolutely spotless with gorgeous, level, grassed sites. We didn't feel like we were on a campsite but rather in a private bush tent. Each site had a wonderfully huge boma and braai area. The ablutions were spotless as well and modern, with gas geysers that didn't ever falter. The birdlife was truly serene in the early hours. My girlfriend's first time camping ended with "I friggen love camping", and that is purely due to the fact that their campsite felt nothing like the day-to-day campsites that sit on top of each other in the sand. Thank you endlessly. It was wonderful.

Very quiet and relaxing place to stay, with beautiful scenery. Enjoyed walking on the farm and taking in all the beautiful views. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway.

We were well accommodated and greeted by friendly people. Had a very nice view of the mountains and had a great farm, quite atmosphere.  Would highly recommend for a peaceful getaway.

Accommodation is well maintained, nice braai area and quiet farm if you want to break away from the city.  The rooms isn't that big though. Camping site is well maintained, and you can take scenic trip trough the farm with your own vehicle.

Really beautiful but no tv or signal.  Cottage needs air conditioner inside rest is good but still needs but more variety of entertainment specialy some hiking trails will be welcome

Clean camping grounds, well placed camping sites, clean ablution blocks and tranquil hiking trais. Pet friendly.
