Personally I now fear king Edward, the attitude of the staff is disgraceful they are not helpful at all. I went there when I was having contractions and the nurse told me I was faking she knows a person who is contracting.... I gave birth naturally and had to sit on a chair From 22:45 to 08:00 with a newborn on my lap. The staff doesn't monitor the mother or the baby. They do not teach u anything. If you are a first time mom please do yourself a favour.
I went to the hospital yesterday feeling very weak n a very bad headache which im used to n I knew it was going to stop eventually.but then the pain was Tomuch so was cryng out loud I couldn’t control it but still did not get attention until other people complained and insisted I get a bed.they finally agreed n gave me medication I passed out n woke up after some time all pains were gone. Just because I woke up feeling better then the nurses started making fun of me saying I was faking the sickness, who on earth wanna sleep in that hospital n leave the comfortable bed at home so I was ignored for hours until I had to ask for a letter demanding to leave I I’ve been getting the same sickness for years now and still no body know what’s kinda sickness is this.been asked several times to seek for traditional help but don’t believe in. So what I want to say is nurses should stop making fun of patients because they dont know their background. …NOMTHANDAZO TRKLJA
Being the first patient admitted at the King Edward makes me today feel more honored to recommend this facility as one I truly appreciate and trust. Mucho gracias for all the patience & effort in getting me taken care of and feeling better. Adios Lele
I have had my Dad at King Edward as he needs an amputation. Sending us from.pillar to post, we find ourelves sitting in front of the ward doors for 3 hours now. No beds. We were told to come here before 7am. I find the staff believe they do us a favour by tolerating us. I have been up and down from counter to counter today I am clearly and visibly on crutches. The facility is great. The service is absolutely appalling. Bugge Batho Pele. Not worth the paper it is written on.
Terrible phone manner and so rude. Staff at this hospital that interact with the public need to remember that they're NOT providing a charity service, we PAY them via a very high tax rate. If you don't like helping the public and doing the job we PAY you to do, kindly find a job elsewhere! Patients in need of care or information have enough to deal with without your pathetic attitude!
I just wanna say thank you to the team of doctors, interns and nurses in emergency/casualty & N5A, I just got discharged after a 5day stay from a mild heart attack. The level of care I received from the start was Excellent. They really do care about their patients health. I wish i could name names but I think they all deserve to be acknowledged and rewarded. I only rated 4 because of the state of the hospital, mosquitoes, the toilets and the food looked terrible but the doctors and nurses have no control over that. So well done guys please keep the good work. God sees you. Stay blessed.
Pretty organized, the securities guide you to your designated que in case you're lost.
King Edward hospital has proven to be the most inconsistent and un sympathetic hospital with poor staff attitude both doctors and nurses. Firstly they failed to save my child, my women came in Monday as my child was not kicking but was still alive @ 7 months preg. She was not assisted from Monday till Friday until my baby died inside her moms stomach when she requested to do scans and check heart beat they kept on postponing and told her the baby is still small he's gonna live, and the sisters we telling her that she can't feel her baby kicking because she doesn't know how to feel the baby. They made her wait so long and ddnt help her take the baby out and made her wait for 3 days with the baby still inside. I'm so heart broken and disappointed with this hospital because when you go to hospital you have hope that you are in good hands but these people don't care
Our day started very badly when I together with my wife went to Clairwood hospital and arrived at 5.45am for a periodic maternity visit. At Clairwood they sent us to King Edward without giving us any letter. After waiting for two hours while they were presenting a maternity symposium the nurse told us to go to Lamontville clinic at 11.50. I would have expected a little bit of understanding from them especially since my wife was transferred from a clinic to a hospital in Johannesburg due to a complication they discovered. The hospital is very overcrowded with no signs of where one has to go. People were sitting and sleeping on the floor. Toilets were very dirty for a healthy facility like that. The condition of some buildings needs a lot of attention. Nurses and admin need a lot of Patient interaction and care education. National Health insurance will be a total disaster with this kind of attitude from nurses but anyway it is just another way of getting extra taxes from poor people by our government
Miss Ngcobo at Labour ward shes pregnant but she doing her job very well much appreciated to this lady
