Knead is an artisan bakery and neighbourhood café that bakes bread, pastries and confectionery on-site, every day, using traditional techniques to ensure customers get everything oven-fresh.

Knead bakery cafés offer a simple, but versatile menu that uses only wholesome, local ingredients served in a relaxed, rustic setting. Started in 2006 with our FLAGSHIP store in Wembley Square, we've since expanded to add more outlets across the Cape Town area. Some days all you Knead is an easy drinking Americano, a silky flat white, a Southern Fried Chicken Burger, and a delicious cheese omelette. Well, this is the place you'll find it. Knead is also a good place to plug in and get some work done on the go.
Beautiful service by Silas. My friend & I met for a catch up breakfast that went till 2pm & the service here was exceptional. Beautiful aesthetics aswell & very quiet environment. Loved every minute here.
Went to grab a quick bite to eat at the Bakery and eatery after an exhausting morning. The cafe was a bit understaffed, so the food took a bit long to arrive. But that was not a deal breaker: our friendly and bubbly waitress got the restaurant an extra star because of her great personality. I had the chicken mayo sandwich on ciabatta bread. The sandwich was filled with a great amount of creamy chicken and mayo filling, but the bread was a bit too toasted. The buttermilk chicken burger was sublime! The burger was well seasoned and cooked. The chicken and chorizo pizza was average - the chicken on the pizza and chicken mayo burger needed more seasoning. Lastly, the Sloppy Joe breakfast sandwich... Uh, the minced meat was okay, but it needed a bit of sugar or some sweetness to add another layer of depth to it and I needed more acidity on the salsa. Overall, it was a good experience: we were full, had great service and we were seated in a relaxed environment. Our waitress earned Knead an extra star.
I was at the Knead bakery this morning and I promised to write this review. To be honest, the food was really good. I went there for breakfast and I really enjoyed it. HOWEVER, the the service I received was not so lekker. There was nothing wrong when the guys got to my table, the problem was getting them to my table, it took ages! I got there and the table still needed to be cleaned. we waited for 10 minutes with a dirty table and waiting for a menu. after we finally got the menus it took another 10 to get someone back to take the orders. My colleague asked for a coffee and water. The water never came. I asked for water a toothpick, the toothpick never came, I had to ask some else like 15 minutes later. I needed to order some food to go, I got the menu and waited a while for someone to come get the order again. It really is a great place to work and have meetings like I had intended to do myself however the service made it a bit awkward in my meeting now.
This would be our third Knead that we went to. For an inside restaurant it has done pretty well to have an outside vibe to it. Also thanks to the trees in the mall it is in. Love the dreamy lighting inside. It gives you all the warm and cosy feels. Wifi, socket outlets, soft lounge chairs, flowers everywhere and a well rounded cuppacino. What more could you ask for? The burgers are fat and delicious. Try the apple cinnamon caramel crumble brioche french toast. It is not too sweet and it tastes lovely and light. The staff is very friendly
Great venue for breakfast or lunch with a good variety of food and beverage options and reasonable prices. Ample underground parking, which is great for a place in town.
We used to love the branch at Kloof Lifestyle Centre and on discovering they were no longer there went to this branch. VERY disappointing. Very little on the display case. Only 2 staff members visible. No atmosphere and the general ambience was way down. I will not be going back there. The only redeeming point was the coffee was nice and pleasant waitress although very unsure and trying to serve the whole place. Come on Knead what happened to your usually high standards ?
Coffee scalding hot and weak so returned it. Then it came back over slightly less weak but still scalding hot. The barista on duty today at 14:27, whilst lovely to talk to, needs a bit more training on how to pull her shots and steaming milk at the right temp
This branch is so great. I sometimes go here after gym and they always remember me. They have really delicious breakfast specials up until about 8.30am. Their usual menu is just as great and, to be honest, my favourite coffee in Cape Town is from Knead as it is always strong and flavourful.
Going in with low expectations means I was pleasantly surprised. Perfectly acceptable coffee and really good breakfast. Coffee was a tiny bit weak, but not bitter at all. Happy.
