The absolute beauty and tranquility speaks for itself, what definitely need a mention is the beauty people keeping it all together. The staff is friendly and very helpful. The cleanliness of the facility is admirable and the hospitality is on point. Not to mention the power couple, Ross and Sandy. The most genuine people, considered, accommodating and always have time to catch up and check in with the guests. They work extremely hard and still make time to have a quick chat. It's definitely not just a job, it's a lifestyle and a passion. Thank you both for making us feel welcome. We honestly had the best time and will definitely be going back. Also, we got to see the white klipspringer Monday morning 8 August 2022 at 08:10, it's not a myth
Loved the place, great indeed. It is hidden you there using gravel which is a nice experience and network disappears so that you get off social media and focus on the people you are with. It is good for self catering because being catered for was not it.Rooms: 5/5
I agree - this is one of ZA’s best kept secrets. It’s a long road to get there 10km of dirt, but it’s very manageable even in a low vehicle. We stumbled upon this place by accident and we can’t wait to go back! We absolutely loved our stay. Ross, the manager, is a gem, and you really can’t beat the view!!! It’s absolutely stunning. I recommend getting a river suite or the cottage just next to the main lodge, as the view of the gorge would be unparalleled. I stayed in a leopard suite that was very large and very comfortable. There is no telephone connection on site, but wifi works in the main lodge, reception and the games room. On site they offer: horseback riding, archery, paintball, etc. They also offer unguided tubing down the river, rock climbing, etc. Coming here and spending a week would be absolute paradise, we are gutted we only had one night. **During our stay, dinner was not available on Monday evenings, but we were the only people there during our stay, so I imagine in busier season it is available. Ross kindly offered to include us in his family dinner anyways, though!
The place will take your breath away. Such a treasure in MP but the real gems are Sandy and Ross. Their care, attention to detail and hospitality gives you that fuzzy feeling. They made our stay worth so much more. Until the next time.... Rooms: I was in the Butterfly Cottage. Neat, cozy and had all the necessities Nearby activities: Not a dull moment. There is something interesting for all ages to do. Walkability: Absolutely serine. Thre are only 15 units, not over crowded. Very well kept. Great hiking trails for all ages Food & drinks: Tea and coffee is free in your cottage. The restaurant is beautiful and cozy too. They have a simple menu and are very attentive to your requests. They have a hot and cold breakfast. Simple lunch and dinner menu. They have a variety of beverages. Something for everyone. The food is simple yet delicious and please try their cheese cake and brownies....yum! Noteworthy details: We went during the summer rains in December 2022. Please take a jacket and rubber boots or slops. There is no network down in the gorge but there is wifi. It's the most gorgeous place I have seen in Doornkop I will be going back
A hidden gem. Ross and Sandy were amazing hosts and the restaurant food is incredible. Well with a visit! Walkability: Amazing hikes for every level
Komati Gorge Lodge was just wonderful. Comfortable rooms with a fireplace. Great food at the restaurant. Really good and well marked hiking and MTB trails. Ross and Sandy are super hosts. The scenery and nature is simply stunning, with lots of diversity - running rivers with swimming options, rolling hills, diverse game, good birding options etc. This is a place to truly connect and feel wild and free within the natural environment. Don’t stay here on a stopover, make it a destination. Already looking forward to my next visit!
5/5 do not do Komari Gorge lodge justice. Excellent service, beautiful clean rooms, lovely cosy atmosfere, great activities, wonderful hospitable hosts, and o my gosh the FOOD!!! Worh every penny. We will be back- had a fabulois time!!!!Rooms: 5/5
Not sure you will find a better pet-friendly place with such a welcoming atmosphere and scenic beauty. The kind people who care for the lodge Sandy, Ross, and staff are very attentive and made us feel right at home. The best three days I've spent anywhere and the best rest I've had in a long time. We simply cannot wait to go back to visit this piece of heaven.
Great hospitality. Quiet and connect with nature. A wonderful place to be! Enjoyed 3 nights of great exploration! It was also refreshing to see pet lovers with their wonderful monsters on holiday together :-
Ross and Sandy have taken such good care of us. The tranquil beauty set out in nature left us feeling so relaxed. There is so much to do and the kids loved every moment. The food is amazing and the staff are so friendly. I would definitely recommend this lodge. Can’t wait for the next trip back Rooms: 5/5
