This is an edit. Initially my wife had a terrible experience and I wrote about what had happened. I was contacted by a representative from Life Westville Hospital and he immediately set about rectifying the issue. I took my wife back to the trauma ward and she was listened to and given the appropriate treatment both at the ward, and to take home. Thank you Mark. Now once again, I truly have faith in Westville Hospital.

We were so excited for my 4D scan today, however the lady who does the scan is extremely cold, rude and robotic. Zero empathy. Zero bedside manner. Ruined our whole experience. This is such an an exciting time for parents, she should make them feel comfortable,relaxed & happy. Yes I understand that sometimes baby can't be seen due to the placenta in the way, their position etc but at least make an effort. Try to get the the best view for the parents. Parents have been complaining about her attitude now for years. Please speak to her about improving or find someone who can do the job better.

It's an ongoing experience. The doctors we have met with and been treated by have been very professional, empathetic, sympathetic, and well versed in all facets of medicine. They run a tight ship, keep a clean hospital, great nursing staff, surgeons, doctors and generally staff such as security and administration.

It really shocks me how such big hospital can have 3 numbers for contacts and none of them works. I don't know how do people get to receive help for minor things when the phone does not even go through This is really shocking. In addition, once we managed through to the reception, it took forever to get help. We just wanted to book a doctor for my wife to get a check up, then the receptionist put use through 3 doctors to check with them if they were available. I mean could she not check on their organised schedule who was available and when and let me know so that we could arrange instead of going through and all of them saying that they are fully booked. Maybe I am not understanding certain parts of this and would help of you could clarify is this was correct.

ER staff was very indecisive took my brother shouting at them because they couldn’t decide on a stretcher or wheelchair, with 2 stab wounds on my back. However staff at High Care Taylor, Phumla, Damien, and the other RN Chantelle I think. But they are properly professional and very caring. Along with my treating Dr Dr Munasur. In as much pain as I was in, they made sure that my stay was as pain free as can possibly be done. Thank you to everyone there who made sure, I lived to tell the tale.

Took my daughter to the ER as she was throwing up for over 2 hours. A drip and meds were administered and about an hour and a half she was discharged. Her drip was just about 1/4 done. Got home and she immediately started throwing up, called the ER and asked to speak to the attending Doctor to enquire as to why she was discharged/whether we should bring her back and were told that we cannot speak to the doctor as that would be a consult. We should bring her in and admit her. So after sending R2000 plus we were back to square one. Pathetic service from the ER team.

Oh wow I so not happy with the Doctor and casualty who wrongly diagnosed my baby. My baby was throwing up, a bit of diarrhoea, had a temperature and had things growing on him it was in his hands and elbow and she gave a wrong diagnosis and doesn’t see need to admit. Even asked can’t we atleast keep him for 1 night she said there is no need and gave me prescription. We got home condition got worse and the thing is all over his body. I went to 2 different doctors who confirmed the same diagnosis. I had to pay for those and I don’t think I should be even charge for the terrible treatment and it’s not the first time Westville Hospital does this too me and I don’t know why I keep going back. When I was pregnant with my son at 34 weeks I was draining and they said I’m fine and didn’t admit me and few hours later I had ruptured membrane luckily I rushed to hospital but I was charge for consultation when I could have just been admitted atleast one night. The doctors at the er are not competent what’s wrong with just keeping a patient 1 night to monitor because the when check signs they different and they may change overtime. So disappointing if I’m charged it will be my last time I ever go there or recommend the hospital because wow

I recently had a heart attacked and was rushed to Westville Hospital by a friend. My complaint is at the gate. We had to waste several vital minutes behind cars queueing to get their ticket to get through the boom gate. Really! Why is there no separate entrance for emergencies???

Grateful for the help received whilst my mum was admitted. Service levels are always questionable, especially when emotions run high but at the end of the day I believe everyone does their best. Sister brown, Damien padyachee, sister rita, sister mphume, are a few I remember who went far and beyond. H1 highcare, I thank you.

Seriously no 2 pin plugs, USB ports, only 3 pin in wards? Bring your own 2 pin plug is a joke. If hot coffee is offered in paed ward can the flask be filled with hot water pse and the parents not sent to a hot water boiler outside the ward while they cont.their social chat. Staff selfies on duty? Paed ward? Great focus!
