My daughter is currently laying there having her 1st child. It is so bad she wants to transfer to another hospital and all because of the rudeness and way the nurses are treating her.
My grandson was born on 01.05.2019. My daughter was told that I could visit at any time on the first day as she has confirmed with the Sister in the Maternity ward. Not at any given time was she communicated that Grandparents must be accompanied by parents. When I got to St Mary's to visit my grandson I was told I am not allowed to see him as I was not accompanied by either parent. If it was communicated to either the parents or to me I would have not went without a parent. They day shift Sister Gladys then said to me they are doing handover I can come back at 7:30pm she will allow me to see baby which then I went back at 7:30pm and night shift Sister Sasha was on duty. Security let me in ICU obviously overhearing the conversation earlier on that I was allowed at 7:30pm to see baby which then ICU Night shift sister Sasha questioned as to why security allowed me in. I said to her it's because Gladys said I could come at 7:30pm to see baby she then said the same thing I was not allowed to see baby without either parent. I asked Sasha to go with me to the mum to confirm that I am the grandparent and she refused. Sisters / Nurses attitude is disgusting actually it's a very disturbing matter and I think action should be taken. I can go on and on just too much happened Matenity Sisters not knowing names of the sister in charge in ICU. I fully understand and respect that it is the rule of the ICU but I personally think it should be communicated the correct way. Not any notifications either at the entrance of the ICU or the notice letters states that grandparents should be accompanied by either parent, I think this is a very important rule in the Neo Natal ICU and should be in black and white. With the experience I had last night at Stm Marys I am highly upset with what has overcome just to visit my granchild. I am disgusted at St Mary's considering what we pay and the service I received, absolutely pathetic. I would never recommend St Mary's. Bad service is very critical in healthcare institutes as it affects going forward.
