Description

Lion and Cheetah Sanctuary was established as a safe haven for animals who cannot be released back into the wild and now have a place to call home and live out the rest of their lives in a peaceful and happy environment. Lion and Cheetah Sanctuary will be their forever home.

It is our intention to set up another release program, into the various reserves in South Africa ensuring the survival of certain species and ensuring there is no interbreeding. So, in the near future, volunteers will have the opportunity to spend time with animals that are being rehabilitated for release at various other projects and will be able to help us care for and work hands-on with the animals at our facility.

Lion and Cheetah Sanctuary is conveniently located just an hours drive from Johannesburg and only 30 minutes from Pretoria. The sanctuary borders Dinokeng Game Reserve which is home to Africa’s Big 5. Where else can you work with big cats in a sanctuary and then go for a game drive and have the opportunity to see Lion, Rhino, Elephant, Leopard and buffalo in the wild.

People in this sanctuary are very considerate. We got to see huge lions in this sanctuary. The best part was interaction with Cheetah. 2 cheetahs are born in this sanctuary and human friendly. We spent good time with them. Must do if visiting Joburg. While entering the sanctuary you will need to call the sanctuary person to get a code to enter at the gate. Make sure you inform them in advance as there maybe network issues once you are closer to the entry gate. There is no security guard to guide you at the gate.
Amazing experience. I would advise the all inclusive accommodation. Well worth it. Amazing educational game drive. Rooms are well situated close to the enclosures. Great service from Pauline and the team. Also the cheetah experience is great.Rooms: 5/5
Did go for the game drive. They accommodated us for a shorter trip. the ranger was very insightful. Directions are only not clear. Google takes you to a game farm. The animal's is in great condition. Nice big camps.Hotel highlightsGreat view
It's a must go sanctuary place indeed. From the effortless booking with Pauline the warm welcome by Lizzy. You have such a beautiful personality. Kitchen staff you have been good to me. Your personnel is exceptional,Mosuni hope I got the spelling right,please keep up with the excellent work you do. You are a jack of all trades example,from the teachings,game drives and ensuring that every guest is satisfied when dishing up. I will most definitely come back. I needed this weekend away !
Visiting Lion & Cheetah Century in South Africa is an unforgettable experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and exciting adventure. The park is tucked away in a hidden corner of the country, providing guests with the opportunity to witness these incredible creatures in their natural environment. The staff at the park are friendly and attentive, making sure that every aspect of your visit is handled with care. Ruan serves as the head guide and is always on hand to answer any questions, while Rudie, Lizzie, and the other staff members provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Alan and Rene, the owners of the park, are always available by phone to ensure that the experience is nothing short of amazing. The animals at the park are kept in pristine condition and you can even pet some of the cheetahs! Alan treats all the animals as if they were his own children, clearly showing a dedication to their well-being and showcasing the true beauty of these creatures. Whether you're a traveler or explorer, this spot offers something truly special that you won't find anywhere else.
Visiting from Australia to attend a family weekend wedding next door at Conclave Lodge we enjoyed a 2.5 hour game drive around the sanctuary with a very well informed game ranger. From the moment we made contact with the Sanctuary we received first class customer service from Ruan . We were even picked up/dropped from Conclave Lodge. Thank you to the team for all that you do for the animals.
First ever solo holiday from Ireland, spent 2 weeks at this sanctuary and the time flew in. The staff treated me with the upmost respect and taught me a lot of information on animals, plants and South African culture. While volunteering I was able to meet many visitors from around the world and see some incredible animals. 100% will be back.
Oh my gosh, what an afternoon! Musoni was like a walking encyclopaedia! He provided so much information on the animals we saw and he knew the answers to any animal questions we asked; it was AMAZING. Great 3 1/2 hours for adults and kids.
Great experience overall, staff very polite and knowledgeable. Tranquil location only 25 minutes from Pretoria. Although we didn't stay over, accommodation facilities look great. Animals are well treated and the cheetah interaction was very cool.
This is a hidden gem. A wonderful interactive experience with lions and cheetahs. Worth every cent. Can improve signage on main road R573 and sand road R628 to assist with location. Accomodation looks fantastic although I wasn't aware of the resort when looking for accomodation on Lekkeslaap. Perhaps consider excluding small children 0-6 from game drives.
