The restaurant was very quiet when we went in around 2pm. The waiter was attentive and very professional. The place was neat and tidy. Good place if you want to chill. However the food was a big disappointment if you looking for "authentic Durban" curry. Being an ex Durbanite I have been on the hunt for Durban style food but mostly struggle to find it according to thee claims of being "Durban style". I ordered the mutton bunny which really looked delicious but failed big time on its flavor and worse had a boiled flavor and very couchy smell, potato was also very hard. Lots of meat though but sadly I could not eat it due to the smell which put me off. I left all of the the meat and bread and didn't ask for a doggy bag.My sister ordered the mutton breyani which once again passed on looks but failed on flavor dismally. We ordered the Masala tea which they said they had but gave us ordinary 5 roses as they had run out of Masala tea but didn't tell us and charged us for which I didn't appreciate . The tea though was good. I had read the online reviews prior to going in and was really hoping it was not as bad as some had posted but sadly some the bad food review claims on the meat having a bad smell and the taste turned out to be very true. The veda however though paper thin was good and so was the chilli bites we ordered as starters. It was very sad we were really looking for a good Durban curry place but I am afraid this is not one of them. Good to visit if you not looking for authentic Durban food. Staff was very good and food arrived in good timing.
I've tried a lot of bunnies in JHB and this easily cracks top 5. Bread was the freshest of any bunny I've tried. Mutton pieces were cooked to a delicate level and the curry has a really nice sort of buttery undertone. Will highly recommend the bunnies
Food was okay. It's very difficult to find a good bunny chow in Jhb. A lot of places glamorise by saying "Authentic Durban Style" but always ends up being far from it. Although I really craved a bunny, and it was fair. There aren't many places in jhb that I feel are much better.
Really awesome place. One of the best bunnies in JHB if not the best. Really helpful and friendly staff. They accommodated my special requests which not a lot of places are willing to do. Highly recommend them.Food: 5/5
Bought mutton Bunny from your Witkoppen branch. Taste horrible and pathetic for an Indian restaurant. No salt and meat looks like a dog chewed on them. Please don't waste your money and time in supporting these people who can't even cook Indian food.
Pricing and imagery of the bunny chow on the website is outdated and misleading and not value for money. The experience at the restaurant was very unprofessional. This was our first and definitely the last experience with Lugz as it has left us feeling ripped off.
Was hoping for a good durban style mutton bunny but was quite disappointed. Few pieces of mutton and could taste that the meat was not cooked with the curry because the flavour of the meat tasted like stew. Bread was fresh but potatoes were a bit hard. The beans bunny was on point and pizzas were alright. Cheese and corn samoosas were very tasty and probably the highlight of my meal. Lime milkshake was also very tasty.
A little expensive, not bad but not great either. I ordered a few pizzas too, but only the spicy chicken one tasted great. The 'some like it hot' pizza wasn't very hot either. Coffee was good though. Don't bother with the Bombay Crush, it isn't the way you want it.
This is not indian food at all, meat smelt and tasted funny. Owner is unapologetic Ended up paying and leaving for something non edible, wouldnt even give that to my dogs Lugz should learn from Swaadisht Foods what a mutton bunny is!!
My husband and I had the mutton bunny chow. It was so salty along with the pickle that they gave, my husband even bit a grain of salt while eating his. Never again.Food: 2/5
