I need to be convinced that those 4 stars are of meritThe rooms are clean but those bed sheets for kids, they can barely cover when you when you turn. The food is good but the service is terrible. 2 days in a row I ordered breakfast during my supper so that I’m not late for work, I get there at the agreed time of 8:00, only to arrive and they ask you what would you would like did I not order a day before so this process is fast??? and sit until 8:30 to serve you…. This is the same for the supper also. You’ll wait for 40minutes for the food you’ve ordered 4 hours before!! the wait for service is really unprofessional and not even furnished with a reason. You just wait… definitely not coming back here. Don’t get me wrong, it could be outstanding provided the service is catered for, adult sized bed sheets, bottled water in the fridge, no noise from the kitchen when guests are sleeping and respect our time!!! Nearby activities: They have quardbikes and zipline… didn’t try any, I was there for work Food & drinks: Mr Justice makes a mean trout and stew!!
Wow! This was such a delightful surprise. Madi a Thavha lodge really exceeded my expectations. I was hesitant to go with my Fiancé but I am so grateful I did. We had an incredible day filled with adventure and excitement. I highly recommend going and trying out the zip line and the quad biking. Pfarelo, our guide for the day was brilliant and made the experience special and worth while.
The reception, the room and meals were excellent. The chefs go out off their way to make great food. Good for outside adventure.Rooms: 4/5
Booked an hour long full body couple's massage. The first lady was very nice while the second had a bad attitude. The massage was quite good. However, it lasted only 40 and 35 minutes, respectively. The second lady was late and started five minutes after the first, rushed the massage, went out halfway through for a small break, came back in, and finished her massage first. She then bolted out of the room, leaving the first to tend to us as the clients. It was very underwhelming as an experience and definitely not worth the R900. The menu a laminated page was overpriced and bad in terms of selection, with about 10 options in total. Everything whether it was two chicken schnitzels, beef stew, lamb curry, or oxtail was R200. Sides pap, veg, rice, etc were all R40, and the reviews were not good. The starters gizzard, crumbed mushroom, salad, etc were also R40-50 and did not seem appealing. The service was well enough. The people were overall nice, but the place seemed disorganised and definitely not what you'd expect from a remote lodge. As a whole, much could be improved.
Don’t waste your time or money. Firstly the 3km road is very poorly maintained gravel road, they assured me multiple times it’s accessible by non-4x4 vehicles but I honestly won’t do it again. The staff was somewhat friendly, but kitchen staff was rude. Food is definitely overpriced. I didn’t even order anything. Booked a massage R450 for 1 hour, we started late, it was 40mins in total including getting ready/undressed, etc. The massage wasn’t bad but felt rushed and lots of noise outside from staff didn’t make it a relaxing atmosphere. I really wanted to book to stay and hike, but after this experience I definitely won’t be back.
The place is nice and very quiet. Did zip lining and quad biking. The zip lining was fun but the quad biking was not a good experience. Too many people booked for it but there were only 2 bikes working. Had to wait for over an hour for my turn. They should've at least communicated this when we arrived.
We spent a night there but our experience was not so great. The atmosphere is good as it is silent and a good place to unwind. The staff is very friendly but because of the place being understaffed, they are overworked and don’t provide the service required by clients. The food is horrible, the worst, and overpriced. 3 wings and chips is R100, 1/4 chicken and salads is R250, the taste of the food is not nice. Activities- only did quad biking, 3 bikes broke down while waiting in line, only 2 were working. we were almost also robbed of the full experience as it was almost knock of time. They even said no refund if we cancel activities, rip off.
We booked accommodation, the site is nice but the service was very bad. The restaurant do not have ingredients for catering, which compromised the food quality, actually the food was terrible, I have never experienced anything like that before. The quad biking experience was terrible, out of 5 quad bikes they have, only 2 where working, which made the whole experience unpleasant. It was unconfortable to see staff to run around the lodge, as jeck of all trade, it makes them look unprofessional. There is no measure of available communication from the rooms to front desk, as guests you have to walk from the room to the main reception for room service assistance
This was the worst experience ever. Firstly we were over charged for the whole experience and told we can use that money to get toasted 3 slice egg sandwiches for R200. Okay we didn't have a problem with that. Secondly we got to that lodge at 9.20am on the 17th of December 22, it started raining and we were patient. At 11.00 am rain stopped and when it was out turn to go Hiking, we were told it's slippery, okay we suggested to go Zip lining and we were told to wait for people who arrived after us to go first. The tour guide said it will take 35 minutes. We sat there for more than 1 hour and no one was checking up on us. At 13.00 we went to the receptionist and asked for a refund, the lady whose name is Fhumulani said we will get a refund and we gave her our account details... Now that the refund is due, the lodge is giving us a problem. I don't want to go back, I can't drive 4hours for poor service, I want my money.
The first time I booked there was I 2019 and everything was super and last year I booked again but things were not the same. My colleague and I were told that we can’t use the eating area as it was reserved for a soccer team and we were served food outside in the dark and service was bad. I felt like an unwanted child. Soccer team were guests and so were we‍
