I spent time in the Maternity Ward after the birth of my baby girl in September 2021. The experience I had was exceptional. The nurses are fabulous - friendly caring and competent. C-section recovery can be rough but the nurses were so professional about it all. Each one of them deserves five stars. Sister Zulu needs a mention here. She went above and beyond and encouraged me - breastfeeding is hard! She was there to comfort me when my baby girl was admitted to NICU. The lactation consultant, Linda was super amazing too! She and Sister Zulu are the reason I managed to breastfeed for a full six months! Nurses on the Maternity Ward are amazing!!!!
What a disappointment!! I strongly suggest anyone getting booked into hospital to avoid this one at all costs! ICU staff are amazing, for them it is definitely a 10/10. But once my dad had been transferred from ICU to the normal ward, it was a constant battle and fight to get the nurses to give him the proper care. None of them have a single idea what’s going on. You have to beg for them just to give him his medication when he is supposed to have it. After being transferred from the ICU at around lunch time, he still had not had his drip placed that infuses his antibiotics by 7pm. Still never got the drip And when querying where his meds are, or when he is going to get them you are “complaining”. Or when he was supposed to have a catheter placed, and a whole day later there is still no catheter??? Or just the fact that family drove over an hour to visit my father, and were chased out of the ward because it is hospital policy that it is 2 visitors per hour. It would have been nice to see this information on the hospital website or even by the entrance before family drive over an hour one way to visit! I strongly suggest the board look at providing their nurses with training on bedside manner and how to do their jobs properly to insure their patients are receiving the care they need and that family members are not running through the hospital trying to find their sick family members medication during the 1 hr visiting time. I can only just say thank you to the handful of nurses that were the saving grace for my father, that went above what is required of them. Sarah, Thembi, sibosiso, the the woman with the beautiful voice. I can guarantee my father will not be returning to this hospital.
The worse night-time after care! Worse then government hospitals Went for 2major surgeries, jaw replacement and hand surgery, one immediately after the other. I got sick, vomitting but no nurse wanted to help. When I asked for help, response was I got 2 hands. Other time they would ignore me and only come when my neighbor called.. would not recommend this hospitals after care.. no compassion or heart
After several disappointing experiences at this Netcare, I will never go back. The night nurses during my stay there were most uninterested and some even fall asleep whilst on duty, forcing me to get up out of my bed unassisted and help myself even though I was recovering from a cesarean section. They are not really well trained and don’t seem to want to help. Further, the hospital does not have a home affairs department. Once your child is born they make it appear as though home affairs will contact you to finalize and collect the birth certificate but that couldn’t be further from the reality. I don’t think they have a contact at home affairs as alleged and as such, you will be forced to queue the 3km+ line just like everyone else at home affairs centurion, and with a newborn. Truly bizarre. Finally, when my toddler broke his foot, we were forced to wait in excess of 8-9 hours in total between the two days we attended at the hospital at the emergency room. I cannot understand or fathom why children are not prioritized at the emergency room and why the wait for a doctor is so excessive. I will never go to this hospital again.
Poor value, poor service. Ate here on saturday after taking our daughter for some bloods. Waiter was a bit absent minded often having to go back and forth multiple times bringing cutlery but just fork and no knives and other similar mishaps. Wife and kids had cheese sandwiches and i had the veg wrap. Wrap was good but the sandwiches seemed a bit light on cheese. They did not have cream for the bar one hot chocolates. The kids then wanted muffin and a slice if cake. Muffin was good not that big given the price. The cake was quite firm and not the soft sponge you expect to bite into so I think it was possible a bit stale. Was over R400 for the above meagre spread of 3 cheese sanwiches, a wrap, 2 hot chocolates a pot of tea and 2 cakes.
22 December 11 pm we arrival at the hospital Casualty department. From the time we entered. The staff were so amazing. They never left our side. From the first sister to the clerk and the 3 nurses inside and to the Dr Moosa. Ur team is great and I am so greatful to have had a good experience with waterfalls NETCARE hospital. Keep up the good job HUSBAND AND WIFE FOOD POISONING JILL/RODNEY .BLESSING AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO U AND UR FAMILY
If I could rate a certain staff member, a specially certain general medical practitioners a 0 I would as they ask for a service then treat you like utter garbage. When you try and call them to assist, they speak to as if you are busy being a burden. when you are trying to help. we always get reviewed on service but we never get a change to review our customers. I clearly stated that she was rude, she works at this hospital and required my service. I tried to assist and was treated with utter disrespect, then I blatantly ask I would appreciate if she wouldn't be rude. I admit, but this after she told me to call the other number i was given after i had tried numerus times. I can not understand why people feel like they can treat others badly and then expect others not to do the same.
Arrived at 17:30 11 September in the emergency seen by two people got a painkiller was told to be admitted, signed the papers and was told co payment R2350.00. My customers get better service, in time on time with correct treatment. I want to charge my hourly rate.
Poor nursing care, I was immobile my bed wasn’t made for 2 days no bathing assistance I was offered. I paid hospital fees for nothing, nursing assistance would took 25 min before I was assisted. My private room was opposite nursing station but no urgency!!!! I wouldn’t exchange my doctor at all maybe he needs to move his room somewhere.
What a wonderful birthing experience I had on the 6th December 2022. All the mertanity ward nurses were so caring and compassionate about their work. My two day stay after giving birth felt like I was at home with my sister's. I'd love to extend a big thank you and love to Sister Catherine, Sister Zulu, Sister Wendy, Sister Ngema, and all the other sisters who's names I didn't get but felt their love and carrying nature, Maria who was at reception, the kitchen stuff, the cleaning help. May you all remain this way to everyone else who needs your care. A special thank you to the stuff looking after baby Ngema in the Neonatal Ward. My baby is growing in such good care. Thank you all for your kindness and nurturing spirits. Blessings upon all of you. Love and light
