Spent a wonderful weekend here as part of a big family reunion. The service is amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful. Amazing breakfast in the morning included in the price. Drinks and food available throughout the day from the restaurant. Loads of activities. Kids were never bored and didn't need their phones. Will definitely visit again. Rooms: Chalets are nice and cozy. Had panel heater and we had electric blankets on our beds. Food & drinks: Pizza, Curry, Burgers, Ribs, Salads... Everything was delicious
One of the most beautiful places on earth. The lodge features an exquisite villa right on the river, with a wood-fired jacuzzi and space for a big group of friends or family. There is also a delicious breakfast and coffee to enjoy every morning, which is only 5 minutes drive from the exclusive villa. A hidden gem, and will definitely be returning!
Popped in to go to the Toad pub, amazing setting! Absolute hidden gem, but service was vey poor. Had to ask for menus, drinks were taking so long we went up to the bar to find out what the hold up was, the drinks were on the bar ready but the staff were busy chatting, so we took the drinks to the table ourselves, pizza arrived after everyone else had finished eating. We were the only 5 people in the entire place . Could be amazing with the right staff.
I give this venue a 5 star based entirely on the incredible FOH and service team. Roweena, Kobus and Ella were all terrific and handled one of Cape Town's stormiest weekends with grace and a chilled, can-do attitude. The food was very authentic and yummy especially their breakfasts that garlicky bread in the Egg's Benedict gave me life!. The accommodation was a bit rustic for me personally BUT the beds inside the chalet were super comfortable and clean! This is a special piece of land and certainly one of Elgin's best kept secrets for adventure seekers looking to connect with nature. x
Beautiful, relaxed, very friendly place with basic but very comfortable cabins. Good dinner options, even better breakfast buffet. A perfect base to explore the Elgin Valley vineyards, escape the city or simply to relax for a few days hiking the local trails and cooling off with a swim in the river. Note for those who, like me, arrive on a low-powered rental: easy does the trick on the gravel access road ;
Hidden gem, lots to keep kids of different ages entertained It's on side of river, and they have a little water area with kayaks and rope swing into water.... Pack your swimmers Zip line, tubing behind speed boat need to book pool and table tennis, great food and chilled atmosphere, great for a daycation.... We didn't stay over but would definitely next time
Setting 5/5 Reception welcome 5/5 Staff friendliness and Service 5/5 Breakfast 5/5 Things to do 5/5 Negatives Very weak wifi Trails need a bit of maintenance. Please improve signage and tidy the trails up a bit. Overgrown in places. Overall, it is a place I would highly recommend and definitely would like to return to in the future. It suits all kinds- if you want to chill all day, or are active like me and want to swim, canoe and run/walk the trails.
Best place to explore and connect with nature.The resturants serves best breakfast- best hiking and good service from the stuff.Rooms: 5/5
I loved everything about the lodge, the views are super stunning. On Saturday morning while eating my breakfast on the deck...I looked at the direction water was flowing through and looked at my table it felt as if I am in a boat cruise...the breakfast with view was a A+ point for me I asked my colleagues if they experiencing the same, they said yes - we were actually waiting for you to say it the wooden stairs wow and would take nice lovely walks with my newly colleagues. The food was juiciest, lovely - I enjoyed the themed dinners - mexican din din, braaied all round buffet, wow! your platters guys - I have to come back - What a way to begin my journey with my new employer - all this gave me a beautiful insight about business and I vibed perfectly with my colleagues! The service from your humble waitrons - we didn't have to look for them - they were always nearby - or when they see your drink is almost up - they come and offer another round! Walkability: The views are breathtaking, ability to stretch because of nice stairs and walks in between chalets and domitories! Food & drinks: Serving Elgin-made wines, Apples from Elgin farms...that was fantastic! Starter platters, snacks platters...the smell of freshly baked cookies in the conference room! I loved all your wraps, nanchoes and nice chocolate brownies!
We visited Elgin River Lodge for our year-end function for work and it was such a blast. Everyone has a great time - whether it was on lawns, in the barn area with pool and table tennis or in the river or hot tub. The staff are great and super helpful. Food was amazing too.
