Mondeor is a suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is located in Region F. Mondeor is the location of Southgate Shopping Centre. Mondeor was known as the Jewel of the South. It is set amongst rolling hills, away from the sight and sound of the city, yet only 15 minutes drive from the Johannesburg city centre.HistoryThe suburb is situated on part of an old Witwatersrand farm called Ormonde. It was established on 19 May 1958 and its name is possibly an anagram of the old farms name.Parks and greenspaceParts of the Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve are in Mondeor.
