Monk's Cowl, Drakensberg

There is no time to be bored in a world as beautiful as this. This awe inspiring area cannot be missed. The trails are well kept and the staff are friendly & helpful.

Amazing place to go hike when you’re in the southern berg!

10 friends did the day hike up to the Spynx. It took us about 3.5hours to go up and down so you can do it in the afternoon. The trail was steep in some places but doable - even for someone in the group who had never hiked the Berg before. Breathtaking views from the top.

Absolutely stunning getaway and golf resort! Staff are absolutely amazing, friendly, food are AMAZING! We are definitely going back very soon! Absolutely worth every penny!

Excellent scenic hiking trail choices.

Absolutely recommend this place for hiking in central Drakensberg. The path to Blindsman's corner was well marked and had so many breathtaking moments along the way. The end of the hike however was a bit anticlimactic but the journey was well worth it.

Incredible experience! A must visit! The hike was intense for a beginner, but the view was so worth it!

A very nice walk to take is the walk up to the Spinx. There is beautifull scenery and a lovely prestine waterfall

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! My husband booked us at Cayley lodge for my Birthday in January and my oh my was I impressed with what he had in store for us. The hike at Monks Cowl was definitely the highlight! We decided to do 2 different hikes in 1 day and the view was nothing less than stunning. HOWEVER DO NOT make the same mistake we did and push yourself with the hikes!!! Lol. We only realized how Absolutely unfit we were later that night when our legs were on fire and we could not walkI would definitely go there again though but with preparation!

One of my favorite places in the Drakensberg! Well-maintained paths and incredible scenery. Great place for birders too. If you visit and go hiking, please take a packet for your rubbish and pick up any litter that you may find along the trails, unfortunately many people have no respect for the environment. Also, the rock faces are not canvases to scratch your name into, it is shocking that people actually deface beautiful rock faces like that, rather stay home and scratch your houses walls.
