My brother was locked up and in the holding cells. I phoned this morning to hear when he will be charged and appear in court. The lady on the other side could only tell me that he was not charged yet. I asked if I may visit him and she said that I may. When I arrived at the station I met with Robertse the only person there in the office. He is extemely rude. I just want to bring him some food and medication and see if he is doing ok. He told me that we are not allowed to bring food and that I will not see him. He is afrikaans speaking, clearly from his poor english accent but refused to speak to me in afrikaans. I went to search for another officer as he is clearly not only refusing to assist but wil also do anything in his power to deny any form of assistance and di nit care about a humans rights. I met with two other officers who told me that they do not have visitors facilities but I may stand at the entrance door of the holding cells to speak to him which I have done. Moments later, on my way out Robertse came around shouting at me. I did inform him that I have spoken to the other officers which allowed me to speak to him. I wanted to arrest me, took me to the holding cells. I asked on what grounds and he would not answer. Things got tense, I tried to reason with him about my attitude which was a direct responce to his attitude and behavior and if we can start over and speak to each other in a respectful manner. He called me arrogant, refuse to speak to me but would still keep on intimidating and insulting me. He then refused to arrest me and chased me off the police grounds telling me that he will not charge my brother insinuating that he will keep him there for as long as possible and that my brother will not get bail. You, ROBERTSE! are proof that SAPS is the most worthless and corrupt government institution and we will take this further. Your attitude and arrogance was clearly trying to provoke a situation that would allow to abuse your power as a officer of the law. Still we do not know when my brother will be charged, which charges will they bring against him and when he will be appearing ib court. We are not allowed to give or leave his medication. He was attacked on a farm a month ago, having severe problems coping with what happened as those criminals was out to kill while is 7 year old daughter next to him. This case was reported at Hercules police station but they only reported it as a house robbery. Two weeks later he was smashed and grabed. As most South Africans we are all passes gatvol with crime and fearing of your personal safety. The people who you should turn to is a bunch of useless idiots. SAPS is a disgrace to tge public, speaking out of various personal dealings. The handful of SAPS members believing that you are doing good, please dont turn a blind eye to your corrupt colleagues as something should be done in restoring the public trust.
Have known this police station to be efficient. Today, been sitting for half an hour one cop working, the other 8 just chatting behind the counter.
Have tried getting through to the station for five hours using various numbers listed and provided by other police stations but no one answers.
We needed to certify some documents and we were in and out in 10 minutes. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Fast service when I had to report a smash and grab.
