Het nationaal park Kruger of kortweg Krugerpark is een omvangrijk wildpark in het noordoosten van Zuid-Afrika, op de grens met Zimbabwe en Mozambique. Het is een van de bekendste wildparken in Afrika en trekt jaarlijks een groot aantal toeristen.GeschiedenisVanwege de toenemende jacht met steeds modernere wapens, ontstond eind negentiende eeuw de behoefte aan bescherming van de natuur in het algemeen en het wild in het bijzonder. De volksraad van de Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek (Transvaal) verbood daarom de jacht tussen de Sabierivier en de Krokodilrivier. In 1898 ging president Paul Kruger van de ZAR over tot het instellen van het Sabie Wildreservaat. Kort daarop brak de Tweede Boerenoorlog (1899-1902) uit, waardoor van natuurbescherming weinig meer terechtkwam.In 1903 - Transvaal was intussen na de verloren oorlog een Britse kolonie geworden - werd de Britse majoor James Stevenson-Hamilton de eerste hoofdveldwachter van het gebied. Hij was een gepassioneerd natuurliefhebber en zette zich in voor de uitbreiding van het gebied. Jaar na jaar kwamen onder zijn leiding steeds meer gebieden bij het reservaat. In 1916 werd een spoorlijn aangelegd, waardoor het grote publiek het park gemakkelijker kon bereiken en het voor toeristen interessanter werd.Een derde mijlpaal werd bereikt in 1926, toen UZA-minister van Landbouw, Piet Grobler besloot hier het eerste nationaal park van Zuid-Afrika in te stellen. Het werd vernoemd naar een van de grondleggers van het park, Paul Kruger.

It's absolutely amazing. The night drive is wonderful. You will see lots of elephant, giraffe, impala, hippos and birds. You'll likely see lion. With luck you'll find leopard and cheetah. There is a lot of driving that's worth it when you see the beautiful views and animals.
A must-see place for anyone who enjoys seeing animals in the wild. Honestly the most exhilarating place with a tranquil atmosphere. For people visiting for the first time, I recommend booking yourself a game drive because you will atleast see all the big 5, then you can do a self-drive when you've had the best experience.
Hit it! This was such an incredible experience. I am so glad I had the opportunity to see so many amazing animals. Saw all of the big 5 in 1 safari day. A lot of people doing self drives but I was happy to be sitting in a guided tour. Definitely do this
Wow, what a great experience! Saw all big 5 on one trip through the park. Took so many pictures of so many beautiful wildlife and views, will share some. The rangers are amazingly friendly and helpful. Kruger National Park is just a true South African experience!
A great experience You need to start the day off early in order to make the most of the park and to be able to travel a good distance on the day. Unfortunately on the day of visiting we saw a lot of the same animals. Nevertheless a great experience whilst in SA. I would recommend to do the safari. We had a tour guide who was very knowledgeable
Awesome experience and seeing all the animals. The food in the southern part of the park is quite affordable and tasty. After spending 3 hours at the park we were able to see nearly every animal imaginable besides lions. We left the park shortly after.
Amazing place! We made a safari there with “African Spears” and everything was so smooth. We could only see 2 of the big 5 but it was totally worth it, i would love to go back! You can see the animals in the wild, resting, eating, walking, taking a nap, etc. They are used to the 4x4 vehicles so they do not harm you, you just have to stay quiet every time you see an animal so they do not become scared. The park has a lot of lodges to stay the night there and some stops so you can grab something to eat, go to the restroom, etc. Loved it!
An absolutely amazing experience. If you love nature, there is no other better place like Kruger. They also have best and well maintained picnic parks I have to go back with a proper camera
The Kruger National is basically a big lucky packet, you might be able to see more than we did, but we unfortunately didn't see any big cats or wild dogs. We only saw elephants and a whole lot of impala. It was a good experience though.
South African Safari at Kruger national park is simply amazing. I would suggest booking Greater Kruger national park package based on my experience. I witnessed the BIG 5 clearly and closer to the vehicle. The overall experience was simply amazing.
