We had a great time camping here. The ablution facilities are very neat and clean. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The river and spectacular views of nature all around makes it so peaceful. The campsite have electricity points all over and you set up your camp the way you like. Only problem for us were, day visitors also share the campsite with campers and it can become a little noisy at times but with the friendly and helpful staff it gets sorted out very quickly. The gravel road towards the campsite is approximately 6km from the tar road but it get scraped regularly. We will definitely visit again.
What a wonderful place. We were suppose to camp for 6 nights. Well after 2 nights our tent did not survive the night. The staff were so good to us. Helping us and went out of their way to make sure we could upgrade our stay and spend the rest of the four nights in a Villa. We are so glad they had a place available. If I could give you guys 10 stars I would have.
We checked in to chalet which was not services or clean, this had to be changed. No cellphone network or no wife available besides at the reception. All activities advertised in the website were unavailable besides the swimming pools. Quality of cleanliness was very poor, dust and spiderwebs everywhere. Units not serviced daily, which made things worse. Overall a bearable experience, but zero value for money.
We stayed in six sleeper “villa”. The first sight of the accommodation was indeed a put off. We had to call multiple times to have the chalet cleaned. Insects were abundant. There were spider webs on the curtain rails, the dishes and utensils were not in the best of condition and appearance. We were fortunate that we carried disposable plates and glasses. The beds were not in the best of shape and difficult to fall asleep. Staff was the least of friendliness. The hot water pool was not hot but below lukewarm. None of the advertised activities were available or not allowed to be accessed. A very disappointing experience. Will surely not recommend to anyone.
Beautiful place but lacks customer service. Upon arrival at reception, the receptionist would text on her cellphone while I was talking to her. Our self-catering 4 sleeper villa unit had a broken shower door and we had to go back to reception to get it sorted. More requests had to be made to get bathing towels to our unit, supply us with plates as there were none in the kitchen, and for toilet paper. The outside patio furniture was extremely dirty, I would understand if it was just dust, but it was food residue from previous residents. Reading other reviews it seems like a hit-or-miss situation, I hope for others it is going to be a hit, as it was definitely a miss for us.
I was realy upset with the bathroom facilities, it was cleaned only once a day at 8 am, which is not very hygienic if you want to clean up before bed, the showers are overflowing and are really dirty. This is not up to standard, realy poor service at the koisk. The outdoor swimming pool is green and is cleaned only a few days after. But overall Olifants River Lodge is a beautiful place, just needs work and better management.
The villa was not maintained at all. On arrival, we had to get maintenance to sort out the shower in one bathroom, lights in another bedroom, bathroom doors wouldn’t lock. Aircon wasn’t working. Tv had no signal . The villas are not cleaned everyday.. The advertising of activities is deceiving, as we asked about many of them, none of which were available, until eventually the guy from the kiosk took the pamphlet off the wall. And lady the in the office must work on customer service.
We were there in the beginning of January. We had a six sleeper villa. The villa was not maintained at all. On arrival, we had to get maintenance to sort out the shower in one bathroom, lights in a bedroom, bathroom doors wouldn’t lock. Aircon wasn’t working. Tv as well Maintenance took a while before coming and had to come back the next day The villas are not cleaned everyday.. this is not mentioned anywhere The advertising of activities is deceiving, as we asked about many of them, none of which were available, until eventually the guy from the kiosk took the pamphlet off the wall.
the room was ugly, alot of bugs . on the slides I got hurt and the slides pool is to shallow and in the hot water pool they say no food and drinks but the restaurant is bringing to the pool and a kid pood in the pool
The service of the rooms was worse, we had to go and lay a complain about rooms not serviced, after our complain, eventually cleaners were sent to go service the rooms, however we were informed that towels are not changed everyday, and indeed the towels were not changed, only re-folded again. Linen was not changed as well, that's bad for hygiene.
