Lakeside No 5 Critchley Hackle Lodge

Such a friendly welcome! Wanted an early dinner 16H00 and not a problem to the staff to accommodate us. Lovely calm setting over-looking the lake. Food was a feast for the eyes and superb. Starters and mains could not be faulted in any way and the service - quiet, friendly, accommodating and just brilliant. Turned into the lodge on a whim, and will definitely will be going back!

Arrived from Johannesburg airport after 30 hours of travelling. Warm welcome & lovely room facing the lake. Large spacious room & bathroom. Had dinner in the adjoining restaurant - delicious. Great service from all staff but, particularly Finn. Highly recommended.Rooms: 5/5

Loved the authenticity and beautiful scenic views. Family friendly place and easy to access within the small town of Dullstroom. The rooms are wonderful but the showers can really do with serious cleaning. The Staff was very friendly and approachable. The food was top notch. Plenty of cousy lounge rooms with fireplaces to have a sip of their wide range of drinks. This was overall a great stay for me. I will recommend anyone for any occasion to stay there. If I have a chance, I'll definitely stay there again.

We were welcomed warmly. When we sat down they immediately prepared a fire place for us and presented us with the wine list. The food is cooked to perfection and every Saturday there is a very talented lady playing live piano music at 18:00Service: 5/5

Lovely, great atmosphere and views. A place to consider for breakfast and lunch. Fly fishing also a bonus! Definitely a Dullstroom gem!

Exquisite location and really comfy bed. Limited wifi in main restaurant and reception spaces and limited provision for loadshedding events, so plan around it.Rooms: 5/5

Cosy cottages back to a small lake where ducks come and go. Brick and stone make for interesting architecture and the landscape is well kept around the cottages. Numerous little shops and whiskey tasting is nearby. A Restaurant on the premises has a very nice atmosphere and excellent menu! I would love to come back. I have been told that it can be very busy during the warm season and holidays. We only stayed overnight and left early.

Been vegetarian for 35 years and that was definitely my best vegetarian breakfast, so far, on both days. Menu has a great selection for vegetarians and vegans. Perhaps one of the best I have seen so far in SA. Chef went out of his way to prepare our breakfast. The hippie burger was also great 10/10. Great fine dining experience Service: 5/5

Our host, Charmaine was so warm and welcoming. Her staff were extremely professional and helpful. Great food and wine. Their mattresses are fantastic leading to the best sleep I’ve had in while. A gem that will always be our Go-To when visiting Dullstroom. Thank you!!!
