Myself and my husband recently stayed at Nkomazi Private Game Reserve for a few days. We had an awesome time! The place is amazing! The accommodation, the service, the staff and the food, we can only give praises... We also had a lovely massage. We went on the various safaris, mornings and late afternoons. Always a different experience... Our guide Jordon, was very knowledgeable and passionate about nature and the animals. The sunrises and the sundown’s were so beautiful! Unbelievable view of the stars at night… A big thank you to everyone for this amazing experience.
The Nkomazi team really went above and beyond during our stay! The location and the rooms private "glamping" tents are amazing and something I have never experienced before. You get the best of both worlds by sleeping in a tent but still having the comfort of a real hotel room. Staff was very helpful and prepared even a little lunch for us when we arrived a few hours later than expected and missed breakfast. Overall, food and service were great! Game drives also were a lot of fun and in particular our ranger was very helpful and taught us so many new and interesting things. We were also lucky enough to see a lion who just hunted down his food from very close by. Overall, a very special place and an absolute recommendation!
What an amazing place….we were there in August 2022 with my wife for her birthday!! We had an amazing time. The staff, especially Emmanuel, made our vacation so pleasant….I am already planning our next vacation there again. The Chef made us an off menu special dinner on our final night. The food was really delicious!!Rooms: 5/5
We stayed for 3 nights and being our first Safari we didn’t know what to expect. It was definitely 5 star experience! Our game driver Gerard was super knowledgeable and passionate about the animals and sustainability of the reserve .. he went above and beyond to inform, answer questions and a keen eye to find pretty much all animals on reserve! He positioned the vehicle so well for us to take some nice photos and feel part of the environment.. such respect for the work he does daily! oh and he makes a killer G&T for sundowners We had 2 other couples with us who had visited this reserve a few times which made our experience even more enriching and intimate! The staff was lovely and attentive! We stayed in room #1 with a quiet view of the river, outdoor plunge pool, shower and bath was a delight! The interior was very comfortable with good airco and comfy bed. Definitely book a message or 2 its well worth it after sitting on game drives nice to get some circulation and added to more relaxing vibes! Thank you to the full team to make our first safari experience unforgettable! we are looking forward to returning sooooon
We spent 4 nights at Nkomazi and enjoyed it very much. The location, luxury tents and service were amazing. There was an initial hiccup at checkin but Emmanuel, the Front Office Manager, did a fantastic job fixing everything. Two game drives a day are included in the stay and our guide, Thomas, made sure that each one of them was special. We saw all the animals on our list close up. Lions, giraffes, zebras, kudus, elephants - you name it. Just my number one animal, the hippo, was only to be seen from a distance which means we have to come back for a second stay. : To relax during the day I recommend the spa.
Beautiful place with very friendly stuff members….From the receptionist to the restaurant staff and the knowledgeable game driver. The view, private pools and the outside shower was absolutely beautiful.Rooms: 5/5
Chef's kiss. Secret gem alert. We've stayed over two years in a row- and will definitely be back. Honestly, it's such a magical place- it's hard to leave and come home. Highly recommend. Great team, experience, food, and accommodation.Rooms: 5/5
My husband and I celebrated our Wedding Anniversary at the Beautiful Nkomazi Game Lodge. We were absolutely blown away by the beauty, the luxury, delicious food and the warm and friendly service! From the minute we arrived we were treated like royalty. The manager and staff went out their way to welcome us with open arms. We loved the privacy of the rooms, the splash pool and outdoor bath. We had a wonderful relaxing treatment at the spa. The food was out of this world!!! All the restaurant staff were so kind and friendly. Mr B really went over and beyond to make us comfortable. The game drives were absolutely amazing! Our lovely guide, Byron, was so eager to answer all our questions and went out of his way to show us the best that the reserve has to offer! He never gave up trying to find the predators for us! His passion and knowledge is incredible. We would give this place a definite 5 stars, highly recommended and cannot wait to return!
As a relatively 'new' game lodge a change of ownership and a total revamp the camp itself is lovely, with luxury tented bedrooms. They're all en-suite with an extra shower, a bath and a plunge pool outside on your private deck! The food is delicious and the employees are friendly and efficient. The reserve itself is being restocked with more animals that will make the viewings even better, but the leopard and cheetah sightings are already fab.
Absolutely incredible and worth every cent. The service is amazing even from before you arrive, such the comms to confirm your arrival time and directions provided on how to get there including watchout spots for potholes as you draw nearer to the location. The staff were always professional, welcoming and friendly. The property is absolutely gorgeous and picturesque from the lodge itself to the reserve. Even if u dont get to see alot of animals on a particular drive, the scenery is definitely worth the drive and stop overs for sundowners or morning coffee. The attention to detail with regards to decor and fittings down to tap and shower fittings is top notch. The meals were great too and quite filling. I absolutely loved my room room 4 and having outdoor baths and showers even when it was drizzling a little. The fact that the property only houses at most 30 guests makes for a really exclusive and intimate experience. This for me was my first experience of glamping and I will definitely be returning to Nkomazi in future. I highly recommend this lodge if you are looking to go away to the Bush at a 3.5 hour drive from Joburg. The only thing I didnt experience was the spa as I opted to have lazy time in between meals and game drives. But, I will try out the spa on my next visit and review it then. Mike was such a great game drive guide as well. Always upbeat, friendly and cracking jokes. I will definitely be returning in future!
