I have travelled to several camping areas and this was the worst experience I have had in the tourism industry. On arrival there was no one at the gate to attend to us, I called the lady and she came 20 minutes later. There are no activities available at all! I repeat none of the advertised activities are available. These people literally cut the grass a day before our arrival! This place is so unwelcoming, from the momment you get to the gate; you are greated by a closed office on a Friday Mid-day This place is a decoy! Make sure you don’t book at this place if you are African. The white owner is racist to the core. The toilets do not flush at all. The pool was contaminated with excessive chlorine so we don’t swim. He switched off the water for us at 08:15am so we can leave before the checkout time of 10:00am. I kindly ask you to reserve your extra money for something better you will thank me later
We camped there very clean good service from allRooms: 5/5
We did the hike this past weekend. I can really recommend it. The facilities are all that you need for camping and hiking. Charcoal and wood were provided. It was really convenient to have our big cooler box transported to the overnight hut on the mountain. We had very nice scenery. We were lucky with cloudy weather and a drizzle, but I guess the weather can become quite hot in the summer. The hosts of the camp site and the hiking trail are very friendly people. You need to be fit for the hike. The temperature control of the gas geyser/water at the overnight mountain hut were not so great, but hot water in a remote mountain hut is quite a luxury.
We had a great stay camping at Elangeni Holiday Resort. The camping grounds were clean, as were the ablution facilities. The hike was great, although we did not stay in the overnight hut. The surrounding area was great to go exploring, the stars were an awesome sight to see, although at night the noise from the nearby road did spoil the peaceful environment. What stood out for us was the excellent service we received from Alta, Joey and Adam, who were always available to assist.
Did the 2 day hike this past weekend. First night stay was comfortable. Shared cabin was clean and bathrooms was neat and clean. First day hike up the mountain is tough. A lot of climbing and a lot of sun so start early. Second night accomodation is a bush hut. It was clean and neat. Beds are a bit small to share if you are a couple. But the cabin had wood and charcoal. Second day hike is allot easier. 2 waterfalls and more shade. Overall a nice experience.
We had the most amazing camping trip experience at Elangeni Holiday Resort this long weekend. The facilities are well kept and the staff are friendly and helpful. There is plenty to keep the kids occupied and entertained, and the scenery is beautiful. We will definitely be visiting you again soon.
We did the overnight hike this is the third time I’ve done the hike. Really lovely route, the overnight facilities are some of the best you’ll find in SA with gas geysers and a gas stove, enough beds. All in all a highly recommendable hike for new and seasoned hikers alike! March and Feb are the best months for the two massive waterfalls.
One star? Can you rate a place less then One star. I would. Arrived at the gate you are back in the sixties. All buildings were build way back before then and never have been updated. Some of the staff members walking around with bare feet doing their best to make good that is bad. For what you pay is not what you get. A list of what is needed to come to a certain standard will be far to long. Go and see for yourself if you really want to pay another visit there.
We recently did the Waterval Boven two-day hike here and it was great! The hiking accommodation was excellent, it even included gas stoves, cutlery and crockery. The management was very friendly and accommodating, even allowing dogs on the trail. We highly recommend this beautiful resort.Rooms: 4/5
Pet Friendly Dog Resort. Wonderfully spaced kitchen with a decent size fridge and freezer. Iron & ironing board available. Enough space to sleep 4 people. As for the hike. It's is not for the faint hearted. Come prepared. But the veiw if we'll worth it. And most of all thanks you Alta, Adam and Joey their hospitality is second to none.
