Best place to be Saturday mornings

A life changing event every Saturday made possible by a passionate group of volunteers under leadership of Hermien

Fast and flat run, the volunteers are very nice and friendly. Lots of other people of all speeds and ages run this event. Anyone is welcome and it's a great way to get into shape, you don't need to be an experienced runner to join.

My criticism may not be justified but, that is how I experienced it. I was travelling through and decided to participate. The course is not very inspiring with a mine dump as backdrop. It is an out and back on a dirt road. With a little effort it could be a loop with the return on a single track through the veld. It is situated outside of town and I had to travel 10km to get there. In my opinion that makes it an exclusive event available to only those with cars. If possible, it would make more sense to host it in town to make it accessible to more people. I also found the participants very selfish. There is no restriction to walking the parkrun but, I find it selfish that walkers crowd up the front of the very narrow starting line. As a runner you now either have to be rude and push your way to the front and stand over the starting line or wait at the back and then fight your way through the walkers when the walk starts. I've done it but, will make no effort to do it again.

Parkrun has changed my saturday mornings. It's a great way to start a day, break a sweat by either running or walking for 5km. It's a great way to meet new friends too.

It is a nice and flat out and back route on a gravel road, perfect for pb's make sure to bring gloves in the winter, it's freezing!

Made to feel so welcome. Love the environment and participation whilst not having to compete with cars.

Great place to walk/run. Very nice people to interact with!
