We have stayed here multiple times now and our family and friends love it! Reuben is very helpful and happy to answer questions ahead of arrival. Clear instructions on how to get there Google Maps is accurate and what is available on arrival are sent in advance of your stay. Great that wood is available on-site. Our children love the farm experience in the mornings - milking the cow, feeding the animals and playing with the bunnies, guinea pigs, and chickens. The organic apple juice and ice-bites are a huge hit on a hot summers day! Other seasonal products are available. The dam is a huge hit - we spend most of our days in or on the dam during our summer camping trips. Ablutions are simple but always kept clean. Communal freezer and power points are available at the washing up area if needed but we love that it has no electricity at the sites - great to switch off for the weekend. Already booked our next trip!
We just had an amazing peaceful and relaxing weekend. The cottage was comfortable and well stocked. Our children loved feeding the animals and milking the cow. The hike to the waterfall was also a highlight of our weekend. The wood burning hot tub was the cherry on the top. Will be back soon!
Rueben not Peter is an incredible host the facilities are spotless, he cleans the bins regularly and always goes above and beyond to ensure you are having a great experience! The camp sites are large so you never feel on top of other guests, the ablutions are clean and there is a-lot to do on the farm, from hiking, swimming and feeding the animals. Its absolutely wonderful and we will be back!!
Fantastic place to get away and just relax. The dam at the campsite is superb and the cottage we stayed in was just perfect. The woodfired hot bath on the stoep is just the best. We had that thing going permanently. We'll definitely be back very soon!Rooms: 5/5
We really enjoyed the wood fired hot tub and fireplaces in the rooms. The kids had so much fun feeding the animals and really just playing around on the farm which was fairly safe for the small ones. We will definitely be coming back!Rooms: 5/5
Lovely family holiday, we’ve camped and stayed in the cottages and both were thoroughly enjoyable. Feeding the farm animals are a huge hit for little kids. Farm goodies available to buy were delicious. There is a lovely relaxed atmosphere at Petervale.
A hidden gem! Their campsite feels authentic - peaceful, private and spacious - NOT commercialized. You only hear the sound of nature here. We canoed in the dam using the complimentary canoes, went on a nice 5km walk to swim at a small waterfall, fed the farm animals one morning donkeys, chickens, cows, Guinea pigs, geese, goats and others and were lucky enough to milk their cow! Other than we just relaxed. There's hot water, electricity at the outside kitchen,a fridge and freezer and good mobile signal - all you really need.
Always Love our time there, very peaceful and look forward to our stay each and every time! Family Friendly, awesome campsites. The tranquility of the camp during the day, the delight and joy of kids splashing and playing in the dam on a hot summers day, and the laughter at each camp fire in the evenings is just what the heart needs! No music or loud noises to! Did I say I love this place?
We came here with our grade 1-3 classes on a school camp and had the most wonderful camping experience together. We got to learn how to build a compost heap, milk cows and make butter! The children, parents and teachers all had a wonderful time together in this stunning setting. We loved the walk up to God's bathtub and really enjoyed a sunrise walk along the dam wall and swimming and canoeing in the dam itself! Would absolutely recommend, both as a camping site for families and for larger groups.
We had an absolutely fantastic girls weekend away camping at Petervale! Thoroughly enjoyed our hike up to God's Bath and the swim in the cold mountain water. The dam at the campsite also offers great entertainment with a few canoes to enjoy. Campsite was lovely and shady, water is tasty and drinkable and bathrooms are very rustic but clean. They also offer an afternoon check-out if no one is coming onto your site which makes all the difference on a Sunday. Only down side was that campers need to quieten down from 9pm and absolute silence is expected from 10pm. This does seem a bit early - perhaps an hour extension would be better but it is understandable given the acoustics of the forest and the family friendly environment. The prompt feedback while booking, day of arrival instructions and friendly welcome made our stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommend and we'll definitely be back! :
