Don't go, the road that leads here you will get mugged and they will force you to an atm
Great literature collection and I was assisted by very friendly and efficient staff members
Lovely architecture bursting with fragrances of history. There's a good photo spot on the side opposite the church entrance.
The library is still not accessible. It's closed off. Absolutely terrible because we tried seeing it 4 years ago but it was closed for renovations and once again cannot go in. And trying to find parking is a bloody nightmare. Wish we could have actually gone in.
One stop that anyone who lives in or travels through PE is this city library, built in 1901, in classic British architecture, with a stain class dome roof, the beauty captive all. Inside the books are 3 stories high and follow the dome shape. This library is at the heart of Port Elizabeth with all the records, being stored here, the daily newspapers had at one time a room that dedicate to travelers who would retire upstairs, reading the daily news. It is home to an art work of Sir Thompson Bain
The main library has been closed for awhile now and it does not seem like it might open anytime soon.Beautiful architecture,it must see for any building enthusiast.Right in front you will also find the statue of Queen Victoria that caused a furor when there was a call for the removal of all colonial statues. The statue was eventually covered in green paint but the municipality has clean it since then.
Lovely place. Lovely atmosphere. Lovely architecture. Fantastic experience. The main library is closed right now.
The first time I walked into this library I cried. It was so beautiful. It was like I was stepping into one of those libraries that you see in the movies.
Sadly, been closed since i got here, that was 2016! Beautiful architecture tho.
