Excellent place to visit considering it's free. The people there are very helpful and explain you with any questions and are very informative as well. A definite visit if you're near the airport. Do consider donating for their cause.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
I enjoyed visiting the museum. There is a lot to see here. The spitfire is the highlight. If you are visiting on a hot day, make sure you dress cool as it is hotter in the hangars. I was sad to hear that the museum receives no government funding and relies on donations.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Golden nugget of what's left of our history. Hats off to the gents who keep it going. Loved the walk through and kids loved the cockpit. Thank you for your service!
We were pleasantly surpised! Had a good time, lots of originals to see.
Absolutely fantastic! Well maintained, beautiful displays and wonderful for the kids to be able to climb into a helicopter!
The South African Air Force Museum houses exhibits and restores material related to the history of the South African Air Force. The museum is divided into three locations, AFB Swartkop outside Pretoria, AFB Ysterplaat in Cape Town and at the Port Elizabeth airport.....
5/5 Great outing for the family. Learn about the aviation history of South Africa while being up close to real planes and helicopter. Free entrance but make a donation to support the upkeep. We decided to take a trip to this museum, and after driving for 4km on a very quiet road, just before we thought that we may be lost, it appeared in front of us. Museum has utilized every inch of space to provide information about the topic. Get up close to the engines, planes, weapons and view old uniforms. There is a hanger a small walk away from the museum building and if you ask nicely you may be able to see planes being restored. Recommended outing for the whole family.
We had a wonderful trip down memory lane thanks to our experienced guide. He had some interesting facts and a good knowledge of the aviation history of SA. Very well preserved piece of our heritage. Well worth a visit if you are ever in the Port Elizabeth area.
Really fascinating and educational experience! It was well looked after and the curator/guide was awesome, extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the aircrafts and history! Loved it!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo wait
We were so lucky to have someone that was willing to give us a quick talk about what is going on. It was so much better than it was if we had to read the wording. Thank you!!Visited onWeekendWait time1 hr+Reservation recommendedNo
