Protea Hotel by Marriott Bloemfontein Willow Lake

The rooms are comfortable. Photos seem nicer than the actual hotel. Has basic facilities, all clean and new. Staff is wonderful, welcoming and friendly. Everyone greets you with a smile. There's no gym. And the zoo next door is closed. A big disappointment as it was the main reason I chose this place.Rooms: 4/5

I always love coming to this hotel - it is beautiful, neat, stunning furniture and the setting creates a romantic but classy ambience. The staff are friendly and inviting and well versed on the menu items and services offered. Absolutely well done guys!!!!Rooms: 5/5

Protea Willow Lake is located directly on the edge of the old town. Rooms are ok - shower in the middle of the room which seems a bit strange. Fotos look definitely better than the reality. Breakfast and breakfast staff was great. Although, the pool is badly maintained with a dead frog and a non functioning pool robot. Staff in the afternoon was quite cumbersome telling you that you aren’t solvent so one have to pay everything in advance.

Friendly staff upon arrival. The hotel is very neat and well presented. Had a great dinner and breakfast too there. It is also close to some restaurants and shops if needed I'd definitely visit again Rooms: 5/5

The price feels a bit steep for what you get compared to other places I have stayed over. The service was great. Unfortunately the zoo has deteriorated and it is not looking good from the property. Although all of this the stay serverd it's purpose.Rooms: 4/5

I paid 3600 for a room, of which we booked two. Total was 7200 for the night. I opened up my room only to find there were people on the bed. You can imagine the humiliation. Having to apologize and all. This was my first time booking at Protea. I am not happy.

My wife had a medical emergency on Tuesday night and I had to rush her to hospital in Bloem. I only left at about 1 in the morning, and needed a place to stay. I forgot the name of gentleman who helped me, but he had such a great attitude, booked me a room and was very compasionate towards me. Brilliant room and excelent service! Keep up the great work everyone!

The rooms are clean, but needs some TLC wrt maintenance. The restaurant and bar is nothing to get excited about. The venue wreaked of oil/extractor fan not working. Service or lack thereof needs attention. Reception staff were amazing.Rooms: 3/5
