We as a family will not sleep there again. It was a disappointment. The room was not the worth the price. Childrens bed was not made. The couch where the children was sleeping was dirty. No pillows. No bedding. Overall the room was dirty.Rooms: 1/5

I like staying at the Montrose Protea, it's by far the best accommodation actually accessible from The N3 around the Harrismith area. Rooms: More spacious than most, decent DSTV package, good TV and lots of workspace. Safety: The hotel is set back far enough from the Montrose service area that you don't know its there unless you take a short drive. The property is properly fenced off and entrance is controlled at the gate. Food & drinks: The Montrose Shell Garage and food complex is next door, you can order from Steers, KFC, Mugg and Bean and a couple of others. I haven't seen the pub open since COVID, it used to be very lively with locals and hotel guests
Not worth the money. Definately not a 3 star hotel. Would not recommend it. Proteas standard has dropped.
Great place to sleep for the night Friendly staffRooms: 5/5
Rooms 100% everything there. Extra large bed. Nothing to complain about. Outside Bar and braai facilitie was used by our group and the service and food was as requested with and service 100%. Our group was very well looked after. ThanksRooms: 5/5
A very well run hotel, with an excellent discount offered to the motocross fraternity. They have also partnered with the local Mugg & Bean, to offer patrons a large discount on breakfast. Such good value all round. I hope they are supported in all respects for the effort they make.
Excellent hotel to stay in. The rooms are actually larger than most hotels. The bed was extremely comfortable and also love the fact that it's so close to the restaurants. Also provided great service.Rooms: 5/5
