Salt Rock Caravan Park
"There are not many caravan parks that can boast a setting as breath-taking as the Salt Rock Caravan Park. All sites on the beach park have a concreted level surface covered with synthetic turf. The beach park is situated directly in front of the famous tidal pool and fishing towers, built by Basil Hulett in the 30’s, where many a child has learnt to swim and dive. The adjacent kiddies pool where many a sand castle has been built. For those that prefer, we offer a variety of self-catering accommodation."

Was an overall okay stay. Ablutions are in dire need of upgrade and maintenance. Lighting inside the ablutions is poor, especially in the showers. More than one occasion where the bathrooms were not cleaned. Security staff very friendly and helpful.
Stunning park. Clean, well laid out and maintained. Staff are friendly and helpful. Amazing views, beach is clean with tidal pool. Very secure, lots of visible security. Tidal pool is busy over weekends and a bit loud. During the week it's very tranquil. I would rate 5 if they upgraded the showers.
Location very good Campsites mostly small and very close to each other. Toilettes need some maintenance and better cleaning, particularly inside the compartments Shower doors and curtains need attention.
The most rude and disrespectful manager I have ever encountered. She made our time there extremely difficult and was so rude to our day visitors. We wanted to have a quiet braai for our sons 1 year old birthday and they were having none if it, rude to us and our guests, it's such a pity that such a beautiful spot has such horrible managers. I hope this changes
Loved staying here. Well kept, excellent facilities. Friendly staff. Perfectly situated for snorkeling. Kids loved it.Rooms: 5/5
Myself and family have been going to salt rock caravan park for over 6 years. Every year we have thoroughly enjoyed spending our birthdays together as a family there and ensure each year we pay this caravan park a visit. This year in November 2022 was no different and as my husband's 39th birthday approached we made plans to spend the weekend camping there with some close friends and our family. We arrived at the camp site to be greeted by New manager's who we had not met before . I battle to explain how poorly ,They, but especially the woman at the front dresk, treated us throughout the weekend. Not only were they completely disrespectful to us as new, young families but they made us feel entirely unwelcome. I would suggest not going to Salt rock caravan park as a young family as it is clear we are not the target market. We were 4 families trying to have a lovely beach weekend together with our 3 babies under 2 years old. There were further complications when we tried to have a few day visitors come in on the day of his birthday. Only for our guests to be turned away, despite having small babies in the cars. Being told that the "rules had changed" and "group gatherings" were not allowed even if we were families having a quiet braai with our kiddies. my husbands 3 guests were turned away at the gate - even with their kids in the car. The manageress is not a people person and is completely unsuited to her role at the front desk. She has made us never want to return and we will definitely be taking this further to higher owners..
Unbeatable ocean views for this stretch of coast. Well maintained campsite with good security. We were treated to numerous sightings of whales and dolphins August. Highly recommended for lovers of camping at the sea!
Safe, fun and convenient campground right on the beach. Perfect for small kids, shallow tidal pools are filled with interesting sea life... watch out for urchins! The kids enjoyed snorkeling and fishing. Dolphins swim by early in the morning- amazing. Very close to malls & amenities. There's lights on the tidal pools for night swimming wow! Affordable, great location and helpful staff...I'm almost a regular now.
Lovely caravan park. Clean ,tidy and the people that work there are very friendly ,pleasant and helpful, We had bad weather which was unfortunate, to add to this the hot water was out of order in the bathrooms on the sea front side, which made it a bit more uncomfortable. Other than that we would recommend this lovely park to all our camper friends.
We camped at this resort for a second time since 2018 but now on stand 40 from May to July on the monthly Pensioners package. Good value for money based on the following: Security at the gate is strict in applying access control and security patrols in the resort give you immediate peace of mind when entering the resort. Access is a fairly good tarred road. Roads inside the resort are mainly cement and in good condition. Stands differ in size but overall big enough for caravan with tents without intruding on neighbours. There are no elevated paved stands at the top and back parks but the beachfront park stands are fitted with blocks of artificial grass. The latter is not available for the same monthly tariff as the top and back park stands and therefore excluded from this review. Stands are fairly level, mostly covered with grass with some sand patches. All are mostly covered by coconut trees that do shed whole leaves and coconuts which can damage RV's and cars. This must be kept in mind when putting up camp. Electric points are easy accessible, but water taps are centrally placed farther from some and very near to other stands. Fixed braais is not available and you must supply your own which are cleaned daily by resort personnel. Personnel and management are hospitable and helpful in every way they can. Regular visits by Lionel to campers enhance communication and make the stay so much more enjoyable. Water pressure and availability of hot water is excellent and constant. We experienced a bit of irritation as we chose a stand next to Basil Hulett drive where minibus taxi drivers are hooked on hooting during the day time. However during the night the road is quieter. Each park have an ablution which consist of a bath for the ladies as well as showers, toilets, basins and wheelchair friendly facilities. The same with the mens' but without a bath. There's ample space to wash dishes. All these facilities are kept clean and hygiene is a high priority. Porta Pot stations is available at each ablution. There are token operated washing machines and tumble dryers available. During so-called load shedding backup generators immediately come online. There is no on site shop but a supermarket is within walking distance from the resort. The hotel next door do offer pensioner's specials at the restaurant. Swimming pool at the hotel and kiddies play area are clean and well maintained. Supermarkets, other restaurants and shops are all a short drive from the resort. Vervet monkeys are present and come daily through camp. To prevent damage, all food, especially fruit, must always be locked away. Cell phone and mobile data wifi reception was excellent at our stand. Limited free wifi is available on request at the hotel restaurant. We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful resort and will return if we are on the north coast of KZN.
