The place is currently being rebuilt after the looting that happened in the last year. The new spar looks great inside. Should be in tip top shape very soon.

Was impressed by the neatness and being organised of the store. There was no large crowd though it was Friday which is ideal place for avoiding a crowded place

HORRIBLE service at SOUTHGATE spar! I bought butter on friday for baking on Saturday and when I made the first 4 batches of biscuits I noticed they tasted awful and had an after taste and realised it was butter, unfortunately I had used the whole block but the 2nd one was unopened and it had the very same smell... when I took it back with all the receipts I thought it was going to be a very easy process of "sorry here's another butter" but no I was told it's my fault, this happened because I melted the butter! So was I suppose to carry my cooler box to spar because I wanted butter not to melt? And since when does butter go off when softened or melted? I work with butter every single day of my life, cooking and baking. I go through loads of spar butter that we order from work and this has NEVER happened before and the lady that was called to assist me gave me hell for it telling me that I melted the butter and refrozen it? What an insult from a person who is suppose to know their own product to a person who actually uses the product everyday. How rude and misinformed the Spar lady was! I regret going there, If I had known that a mere R80 will cause so much drama I would have stayed home and not even buy there!

I'm hoping we will have great time once new Superspar is opened
