Great place to visit with friends. Rooms have gone down in quality and very out dated for the price you pay but the venue is still well kept. Some great views from the different rooms. The main focus is still the casino so if you dont gamble limited things your able too do. Go with good friends in warm weather and enjoy the game drives and other activities available. Not as much for the kids to do if the water park side is closed. Rooms: Very outdated and needs to be brought back in line with the cost per a room. Walkability: Lots of places to walk around. Great experience to feel in the wild Food & drinks: The restaurant we went to was very good Legends. Getting a table is not that easy. Even though they were not full you had to have a booking.
Amazing, the staff is super friendly and helpful. Stayed at the SOHO HOTEL,sparkling clean, family room felt too small. only let down is the maze and sky train were both closed which is not specified on website
Loved my short stay in Sun City's main hotel. My stay came with breakfast and a free bottle of wine in the room. Breakfast was buffet. There was a variety to choose from. Very scrumptious omelettes. The balley of the waves was not busy so we had a choice of everything no queues. Really enjoyed the game at Breakout. It was a really different experience for me. Got locked in a room, handcuffed n blindfolded to a bed. Now you have to find the handcuff keys, open them and start finding clues to breakout. A very fun game. There is a 1 hour time limit.
I HAVE STAYED A COUPLE OF TIME AT THE MAIN HOTEL AND THE HOTEL JUST SEEM TO BE GOING DOWN. DEFINITELY NEED AN UPGRADE , RENOVATE THE ROOMS AND MOST OF ALL TRY AND KEEP THE POOL CLEAN AT ALL TIMES. I STAYED OVER THE EASTER PERIOD AND THE POOL WAS DIRTY FROM THE TOP AS WELL AS THE BOTTOM. SO GUYS IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR CLIENTS HAPPY PLEASE UPLIFT THE PLACE. Nearby activities: NO COMPLAINS ON ACTIVITIES
I‘m just Rating the Hotel, not sun city. Sun city itself is absolutely amazing and 5 stars! But the hotel REALLY needs a renovation and the breakfast is not good enough for the price. Also the service could be better. Especially at the reception, people were helpful but not really friendly.
I quite liked my room. Neat , clean and comfortable. Modern ,opening up into a balcony / patio with great views of the resort. The chair was missing from the dressing table, which made it difficult to do my hair and make-up for the events I was staying there for. The water does take long to heat up in the shower, but the room service was AMAZING. The staff were so polite and respectful, friendly and helpful . They may take long to answer sometimes, but they always answer eager to assist . The casino is just downstairs from the rooms . The whole lifts thing was confusing , to find my friends who were on other floors , on opposite ends in the same hotel . Breakfast was nice , hate that it was all OUTSIDE and the weather was most unfavourable. Rainy weather meant breakfasting in the cold. By the way, watch out for pigeons who like to eat off your plate . Tiring to queue for your eggs and coffee too. They had a variety of pastries, fruit , juices , yohurt , muffins , savory brekkie items etc. Didn't like the catering side of things at the conferences, food wasn't up to standard from the pre-covid era, but some of the desserts were very cute and tasty. Overall a pleasant stay .
I would not stay at the SOHO anymore! Rather book into the cascades. 1. The elevators don't work, not just one, a majority of them.. 2. The airguns never work.. 3. The rooms are outdated and smell. 4. No turn down at night.. The place has definitely gone down, and it's not covid. It looks like it is a management problem. I called to complain about the above points, reception never answered. Rather book somewhere else.
Avoid if you can. Not nearly worth half the price. The hotel really is awful. The rooms are not clean a little gross, really. Getting breakfast is a never-ending series of queues and the food itself is not much better than the rest of the hotel: really awful. There is only one working lift in the entire hotel and that lift looks like it needs a wing and a prayer to complete its journey. The hotel plays loud music late into the night that can be heard in all the rooms. I see the management of the hotel replies to these reviews. However, nothing is done to address these issues.
I wasn't to impressed by the Sun City hotel. There was no guide to show how to reach our rooms. The carpets in the hall way seemed like it hadn't been washed in years and left a musky smell. The lifts weren't working properly. The actual room was okay, nother fancy which was disappointing as you would expect luxury. It seems like the rooms haven't been updated in years also, with manual ac. The amenities are okay, just that the use of bathrooms when at the pool is an inconvenience as u had to walk all the way back to the hotel to use bathroom facilities. I got to go there in a group setting, with all expenses paid trip, but wouldn't stay there if it was out of my own pocket cos I expected more. When checking out, the receptionist weren't to friendly and I stood there waiting for 15mins for her to be done on a call before I just left my room key. I loved the tiki bar by the pool side, just a pity they closed so early. Was at the hard Rock Cafe, the barman actually tried to scam me of my money. He wanted to over charge me for 2 beers,R45 for castle lager, didn't ring it up and put the money in his pocket. When questioning him about it because the previous round was paid by card and was less in price,he apologized and gave me my right change. Overall, my stay there was okay, only thing that made up for it was the gorgeous views. Other than that, Meh Rooms: Get someone to walk with you to show you where your rooms are. For the hotel, but up signs to show where the closest rooms are by the lift, cos your customer might have a long unnecessary walk to their room if they don't know the place. Noteworthy details: Also, your lift buttons are crazy, the sequence is irregular and confuses customers. Also, give a guide and om where to find things like the restaurant area when using the lift.
I have to echo Ana's summary to that of our experience. My wife and I are currently at the hotel for our 28th Wedding Anniversary, and have not been that impressed. The cost of the weekend was not budget in terms of cost and one would expect more from the experience. The hotel is showing its age, and there seems to be a general lack of attention to detail on maintenance. The lifts are still an issue.
