Fresh from Bathurst, The Corner Gallery is excited to announce the opening of their Grahamstown satellite store.
The ‘Makana’ Corner shop will be featuring a condensed version of the usual favourites from Bathurst. Stowe & so.’s infamous fabric prints, products made from these prints, the Nasty and Nice range of cutesome children’s clothing, Molo Mimi’s textile art, bags and homeware, Biddy Schalker’s cosy slippers, the Southseas Mohair range of scarves, socks and throws and Kuku Craft’s friendly menagerie of soft toys and doorstops. Sandra Pelser will be the featured artist for the month of July, with a wall dedicated to her paintings and prints. All products featured will be handmade locally in the Eastern Cape, with an emphasis and interest on those originating in Grahamstown. (Local artisans are encouraged to apply to sell their products.)Tori Stowe has designed an entirely new range of products for the new store including; Grahamstown-inspired greeting cards, notepads, postcards, calendars, dishcloths, fabric and children’s T-shirts. In addition, Craig and Tori Stowe will be premiering a collection of their fabric prints entitled Euphoria - inspired by local flora. For the duration of festival a wide range of Mongoose Bags will be on sale in a unique collection of old favourites and brand new Stowe prints. The Makana shop will be managed by Connie Fulatela, a friendly familiar face to many, as she was the attendant at Butler’s Pharmacy for many years. The shop will be open from 9 till 5 from Monday to Friday and from 9 – 1 on Saturdays.
