Quite restaurant hidden away amongst the beautiful shady trees. Interesting menu and food prepared with the most care to detail and freshest ingredients. If one is seated in the garden you are greeted with the most beautiful fragrance of the herbs for the garden. Staff are professional, friendly and very fimilar with the menu and the variety available. Highly recommended for a quite meal.
Heavenly fresh made pasta served with simple but scrumptious sauces and toppings. Daily specials. Excellent service, passionate and well trained staff, fantastic wine list, magical setting in charming old Glenwood home, with lush garden for al fresco dining.
+ Great quality + reasonable price ~R250 pp incl. 2 course + wine + small to medium portion size + one of best wine selections in Durban + Ambiance is amazing - portion size... The food is so good, you'll want more and more and more
We've been to glenwood restaurant 3 times and the food is excellent but the hostess is a tyrant. She was so rude to us and our friends on two separate occasions. Honestly I'll never go back there - I'd like my side of veg without the ego and rudeness please.
A jewel tucked away in an old house in the middle of Glenwood . Eclectic yet simple food that looks good and tastes better . Fine dining in a low key setting and chilled service. Adelaide's wine list is very well chosen for often unknown gems . It all hangs together beautifully.
Just love this place! With Adelaide at front of house, her Dad Adam Robinson as the chef and Elvis as our waiter - what's not to like! A treat everytime! Look for my photographs posted - you can't go wrong ... but don't take my word for it ... go and see for yourself ... you can thank me later
On arrival, we noticed all tables had been booked good sign, I thought. Once shown to ours, we were offered water.' Yes, thank you' I replied. This comes at R40 a bottle!, which you are not forewarned about, neither are you given the choice of much else. It's not even printed on their 'home made ,photocopied' menu either. I decide on the pineapple, coconut milk and lemon freshly squeezed juice. 'Um, we don't have any, we just gave out our last serving' our waitress tells me. Ok, I'll just drink the water then. We place our order....'I'm sorry, we don't have any chicken left, we sold the last 2 portions at lunch' she blandly informs us. It's month end, you should stock your fridges I reply in frustration. I'm now one foot out the door already in my head! We settled for potato gnocchi with peas and bacon, which arrived soon after. It was good, I suggest a sprig of rocket or something of sorts to "lift" it a little though. Had a laugh while our neighbouring table were being served. First bottle of wine they asked for.....'I'm sorry, we have no stock of that'. This gets better and better. Once the decided upon bottle arrived, it was served by their watress ,straight onto the diner's trousers! There was no sign of management, just a very young hostess and waitresses. The setting outside, taste and price range have earnt you a fabulous 1 star.
Delicious food. Great wine selection. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Lovely venue. Looking forward to my next meal there!
I've been back in Durban for just over a year now and in that time I've eaten out quite a bit. OK a lot. Mostly lunch. So I reckon I'm pretty qualified to talk about eating out in Durban. I still sometimes catch myself thinking just how fortunate we are to have a restaurant of the calibre of TGR right here on our doorstep. In our midst. Five days a week. This is the kind of place that would be booked out two years in advance in Pimlico or Putney. If 113 Brand Road was at 113 East 46th in Manhattan there'd be a queue around the block as far as Washington Square most days. You can read the chefs' CVs and food journeys for yourselves. They're beyond just impressive. Go and read again for yourself what these guys have gone through and done. But what really counts - and shows, in every single plate of food even the wobbly ones ;- every single time - is the love and the passion and the deeply ingrained respect for food. Adam is a master and his commitment to his craft at times is almost sublime. That he is such a really nice guy on top of it no screaming rants from the kitchen, or the other rooms - although an obligatory booming CRASH from the kitchen is de rigeur at least once every serving is simply a bonus. He leads a great team and it shows. The fact that this level of expertise, passion and commitment is available to us right here in Brand Road still amazes me. Every single day. And the fact that you can take your favourite and best bottle along for only R20 is beyond joyful. Go. Please, just go .....
Absolutely lovely place. Food is always fantastic and fantastic and wait staff is perfect. Great wine too
