Amazing place with friendly staff! Had a walk through a ravine and the view was breathtaking. We hired a kayak and kayaked upstream with stunning scenery and took a relaxing drift back down. The accomodation was comfortable, the host even gave us coils for the mosquitoes. The communal kitchen and bathrooms were clean and not too far. Can't wait to go back and do more of their activities and take family and friends with next time. Just note, by the time we went, the dirt road from the boarder turnoff to the camp was VERY corrugated.
We did the 5 day trip and it was an awesome experience. Knowledgeable guides who makes food on a campfire to die for. Even pudding in the wilderness! The camp itself is very comfortable for being so remote. Everything you need and more. Other reviewers have awesome photos which is a good representation of what it's like.
Well maintained inspite of the recent floods, beautiful setting but tranquility is not garuanteed if there is a large group and late night bar action.Service: 4/5
Beautiful, green, well kept camp site. You are Surrounded by lush fruit trees and a well kept herb garden. Waking up to the sound of fish eagles, it is a breathtaking experience. Clean pathways, bathrooms and showersyou can shower under the stars. There is power to the camp site. Everything is nice and sheltered. There is even an under cover area with sinks and worktops. Beautiful view of the orange river and easy access to the river bank for a refreshing swim. Highly recommended hiring a canoe for the day, you can find beautiful gem stones in the river. In the evening you can braai and pop off to the picturesque bar area. Love Making memories at the growcery and getting in touch with nature.
We had the most amazing stay at this camp. I highly recommend them! The facilities are basic but adequate. The shacks are plain corrugated buildings with 2 beds each. Basically camping without a tent. Meals can be arranged and therebis a bar that is always open. Trips can be customized to your preferences. Campsites are available and you can cater for yourself or they will provide all your needs. We booked a 2 day Wet n Wild trip that promised a day on the river, overnight next to the river and a 4x4 trip into the Richtersveld. When we arrived the river was in flood and we could not overnight on the river. We stayed in the shacks for 3 nights, went canoeing on the river, hiking in the mountains and 4x4 trip into the Richtersveldt. We took no supplies with us. Everything was provided for us. Our hosts, Hennie, Anton, Nico, Craig and Lourens were incredibly friendly and helpful. Always available. Anton made the most amazing meals 3x a day. The bar was always open. They just made us feel at home.
We had a very nice mothersday lunch specialy prepared for us by Henry! Delicious!!Service: 5/5
Cons: Road is bad from Vioolsdrif to there The shacks is hot Mosquitoes will eat you alive!! Cleanliness could approve Their boats should be checked before departure. Pros: Friendly and hospitality is great Very accommodating Good food Our Guide was well trained! "Lekker" experience!!
A little pricey but loved the swim in tge Orange River. Camp ground is just what one needsService: 4/5
Spent 6 nights at this awesome venue. Friendly staff, clean camp sites and ablutions. Plenty of shade at our site Sativa, the gazebo never made it out of the trailer. The river was lovely. There's canoe rentals available or simply go for a swim in the Orange River. WiFi available for purchase at the bar. Came in very handy as we had no mobile signal to speak of. Great bar vibes and they do cater for some essentials; Ice, wood, Venison when available, meals can also be ordered at the bar. The Nababiep Richtersveld 4x4 route was a blast. Prepare to go exploring and be amazed by nature at it's most desolate, vibrant and serene. Thanks to Anton, Nico and Co for having us. We'll be back! Dog-friendliness: No pets allowed due to the pack of 6, Australian Cattle Dogs on site. They're wonderful, made us feel safe and Lucy visited us regularly. But they don't play well with pooches from outside their pack I was told.
What an awesome place, rustic atmosphere lively bar with dancing barman and all the frills;-Location: 5/5
