What we are
The Solomon Edwardian Guest House is a self-catering guest house in Kimberley, Northern Cape, South Africa. The main house was built C1910 and has been tastefully converted and furnished with high quality fixtures and fittings. We also have two separate Studio Rooms. All rooms have queen size beds and en suite ablutions.
Where we areThe Solomon is nestled between the historic suburbs of Beaconsfield, Herlear, Klisserville and Belgravia, halfway between two of Kimberley's most famous historic diamond mines, the "Big Hole" and "Dutoitspan". The Guest Rooms
* Bateleur Guest Room: queen-size mahogany sleigh bed, writing desk, flat-screen TV with DSTV Compact channels, en-suite WC with bath. Shared use of fully equipped and furnished large kitchen, dining room and sitting room. There is an option for an additional single bed in the guest room.
* Goshawk Guest Room: queen-size mahogany sleigh bed, writing desk, flat-screen TV with DSTV Compact channels, en-suite WC with shower. Shared use of fully equipped and furnished large kitchen, dining room and sitting room. There may be an option for another single bed in a single room across the hall.
* Studio One Guest Room: queen-size Oregon pine bed, writing desk, en-suite WC with shower, flat-screen TV with DSTV Compact channels, equipped kitchenette, dining table. There is an option for a put-me-up single bed in the guest room, ideal for a child.
* Studio Two Guest Room: queen-size Oregon pine bed, writing desk, en-suite WC with shower, flat-screen TV with DSTV Compact channels, equipped kitchenette, dining table. There is an option for a put-me-up single bed in the guest room, ideal for a child.
General information:
* All bedding and towels are provided.
* There are room heaters and electric blankets for the winter nights.
* There is ample secure parking in the grounds (some parking places are shaded, but not all.)
* There are braai facilities in the gardens (please bring your own wood).
* The large garden has mature trees and shrubs.
Where to eat out:
If you don't feel like cooking, Kimberley offers some great local restaurants (Annabells, Butlers, Lemon Tree) as well as famous chain outlets (Ocean Basket, John Dory, Spur, McDonalds, Steers, KFC).

Nestled between the historic suburbs of Beaconsfield, Herlear, Klisserville and Belgravia, halfway between Kimberley's historic "Big Hole" and "Du Toitspan" mines, "The Solomon" is a stone's throw from the boundary stone used by Cecil John Rhodes to mount his horse after a refreshing pint at "The Half", and the McGregor Museum which was his home during the 2nd South African (Anglo-Boer) War.
