HELPING NATURE TO HEAL THE PAST SO THAT THE FUTURE CAN SHINE!
• Measuring and minimising carbon, water and other ecological footprints
• A radical transformation of the hospital’s current degraded landscape into a place of functional beauty
• The development of a psycho-social rehabilitation and outreach programme that enables and develops food gardens and recycling initiatives and other social and environmental skills
• A programme of cultural and social revival will be established to re-establish a sense of community and develop a community connection to the soil
• The legacy will be to transform the current negative perceptions of mental illness (surrounded by environmental degradation) into an understanding and functional appreciation of the healing role an entire community and its surroundings can play in rehabilitation.
The Spring Foundation, which developed from the Lentegeur Spring Project, is a registered NPO and PBO which focuses on using innovative approaches to showcase Lentegeur as a leading, community focused, mental health centre that, through its unique programmes, brings to life the regenerative nature of Spring within the people who are in the hospital and the surrounding community.
