Big shout out to Thrifty in Durban. Seamless collection and drop off of my vehicle, which was very reasonably priced. I made a stupid error on my booking, but they sorted me out with what I had initially intended with lightning quick speed. Also gave us extra assistance in the pouring rain. Excellent experience from beginning to end.
Horrible horrible rental company, rented a car and paid online just to get there for them to say they don’t have it and would offer me something similar but tried to lowball me to something that was a fraction of the original price, and thereafter giving me problems with the refund. Came into the store with someone yelling at the workers telling them their company is “misleading” , should’ve known to opt for my refund immediately. Disgusting business practices and services, highly don’t recommend
They don’t give the full deposit back… nobody knows what the amount is for what they don’t give back. Even a thrifty in Cape Town is clueless about it. If you give them a call, there busy… and never get a call request back. Worst customer experience ever.
i recieved poor service from thrifty. first i didnt get the car that i payed for..the fuel wil was not filled up to the brim when recieving the car, but you have to return it full??? then i had to sanitiz the car myself because they use clean water to sanitize they dont care for their customers health and safety. and then the car was extremely filthy inside and out side. j spoke to the manager about it but you can see the atitude is poor they just dont care for their customers i hope people see this and knw that they are at risk for covid 19 because thrifty durban city does not care

Disappointed with the car. Front desk staff was wonderful, went to hire a van on the 9 May for the 10 May and payments done successfully on that same day. When going to pick up the vehicle, I arrived ten minutes before time for the paperwork but had to wait an additional thirty minutes to receive the hired vehicle. Doing the VIS the van was in good condition, only to find out on my way that the speedometer wasn't working and the engine light was constantly flashing. When I was returning the vehicle today, we discovered during the VIS that even odometer wasn't functioning. I had to wait almost an hour for the staff to try and figure that out too.
Came to collect a car that had been booked from me and it's not at the premises. This is the second time Thrifty have been nightmare to deal with. Last time I waited hours for a car. I know this place is cheaper, but I would recommend going elsewhere if you want a simple and efficient car collection. Edit 24 May 2022 - I emailed Lebohang and have had no response in over 2 weeks. I also received my invoice with incorrect billing details on it and I'm still waiting for the corrected invoice. Since renting at Thrifty I have rented from Avis and it was an absolute breeze - it is so much better and I would highly recommend Avis or Budget over Thrifty.
Desk staff were helpful and friendly, car was almost new but not 100% clean I hired it multiple times during December/ January for 2 weeks at a time problem is handing back deposit. No response to emails or phone calls regarding deposit, very sad considering I moved my business over from avis having no issues with them, I hire cars every 3 times a year when I'm in SA for holidays but with this type of attitude you will lose a lot of business
We had to wait for a car we hired online 2 weeks back. they offered us a small car and we were told a driver will come and swop cars at the hotel. next thing they come again and say we now have the car you hired it is being washed. we had to sit outside their offices. its been over 30minutes. we are sitting outside on the pavement waiting,
