Much preferred the old local at the Turbine Hall. This location is so bland and the lack of air con upstairs was a nightmare and did not make it conducive to admiring the art. The old location had a buzz and pleasant outdoor area to eat with music, here some band was stuck on a staircase ... this location was so shopping mall style, it made it obvious that the organisers see art as a pure commodity everybody needs to make money but you could at least do it in style and show the great artist some respect for their work, instead of pokey rooms and bad pedestrian flow.
What a wonderful Art Fare showcasing emerging artists. Awesome ambiance and experience. Congratulations Kefiloe for pulling off such a great exhibition and redefining what's possible for young and black South Africans.
This used to be an authentic event primarily promoting up and coming artists in the original Turbine Hall. Since moving away, it has deteriorated into a money making event for the organisers, and had reached the point where no up and coming significant artist or Galary will participate. We gave it a final chance, attending the opening night at great expense only to be shocked by how it has lost all integrity. It's gone from being held in the actual Turbine Hall to in a underground parking basement. Very, very sad.
Lovely to see such a wide range of art in one place. Lots to see and lots of artists who proudly celebrate their talent! What a pity the venue, for me, did not work. As an unused office building it felt formal and sterile - not the kind of place to showcase creativity. The Turbine Hall owners should welcome the Fair back next year!
This was a wonderful experience. The art was fascinating and it was an interesting space to view it in. Being able to talk to some of the artists was certainly a highlight. I would suggest going outside the peak of the exhibit, as it got quite busy in the middle of the day.
It was lovely. The venue is cosy and we have so much of talent in our country
The new venue was such a let down. Less art, cramped spaces, and poorly ventilated.
Getting food and drinks took forever - very disorganised - but the kids' play area was great!
Out of this world venue and experience. Can't fault a thing except parking being limited
Excellent event place
