Two Oceans Restaurant | Cape Point

About

The Two Oceans Restaurant, opened its doors in December 1995, and is an integral part of the development at Cape Point, which is now part of the newly proclaimed Good Hope Section of the Table Mountain National Park.

Description

There is much here for visitors: from excellent dining and browsing through the curio shop, to witnessing the crashing waves where two oceans do battle near the tip of Africa.

Set into the cliffs high above the south-western most tip of the Cape Peninsula, the Two Oceans Restaurant has a spectacular view over False Bay and comfortably seats some 380 guests.

The innovative design of the restaurant ensures that all guests are able to enjoy the stunning views of this unique location - a view that is unrivalled and world renowned.

Of course, you can also enjoy some of the Western Cape’s most magnificent wines when you dine at the Two Oceans Restaurant. The restaurants extensive outdoor deck presents plenty of opportunity for an incredible breakfast as well, or to catch some sun before taking the Flying Dutchman funicular up to the lighthouse, saving your energy for a walk down to one of the many beaches in the reserve.

Our team of chefs, headed up by Lindsay Lewis, meticulously prepare the comprehensive menu. The restaurant’s elegant fare is classified as deluxe cooking, yet served in a relaxed manner, and can be enjoyed on our deck, or in the restaurant itself. Fresh seafood is the speciality, especially our world famous Two Oceans Restaurant Seafood Platter. We also cater for vegetarians, meat & pasta lovers, salad lovers, and the younger ones.

I have been coming here every year with a pause during covid from 2019 until today. And the place has changed significantly for the worse. What used to be an elegant and tasteful place is now like a cafeteria. What used to be fresh and delicious cuisine is now MORE expensive but “ready made” food from frozen. How do I know this? Because the food came too fast and tasted generic and bland like you buy it in a freezer. Calamari should only be bought fresh and cooked when ordered. The fries were also double fried, they were pure grease and the chicken nuggets were cheap processed garbage. When we complained the staff told us there is a new owner and many have complained… thankfully I didn’t order my usual “two oceans platter” which now costs 1,570 rand 75 euros because it would most likely be frozen garbage. Staff are friendly but slow, they served drinks and didn’t open them. We had to ask several times for a baby chair. In the end I should have gotten a bag of chips from the shop next door and saved my money. So sad.
Beautiful setting with fresh and fast cuisine for a memorable day out. The restaurant has a large deck to enjoy the stunning views of the peninsula. We enjoyed the seafood platter and a Greek salad, which came quickly and were both tasty. The prawns and calamari were particularly good and the portion was generous. We weren’t totally blown away by the food or service but it is definitely worth a trip!
Good food, good service an amazing view! We really enjoy the food in this beautiful restaurant with a great customer service. Food is good and the portions are decent. Try the ostrich carpaccio, what an exotic delicacy. I would definately recommend this restaurant if you come to cape of good hope.
Just average food. The place is greatly located with an amazing view but not worth it for the food quality. Staff was helpful and professional.
We were very excited to find it was opened again after closing during COVID - horrible experience in busy season!! If you don’t have a reservation and they invite you in regardless, note you may be made uncomfortable to wrap it up and leave so they can have their table back. Perhaps international visitors are preferred to local patrons..? We had agreed we would pop in for coffee and be out before 12pm as we also had to get back to our tour bus, from 11:30 although we were clearly done and about to leave were made to feel very uncomfortable to ensure that we do. I have traveled widely locally and internationally and have never had such an experience. Even at top South African restaurants, once invited in without a reservation - when in I have never been treated as if I am being done a favour. They should rather turn people away. I would have been disappointed and bought a coffee to go at a fraction of the cost of sitting in, but to be accepted in then be treated that way leaves a bad taste. Very saddening. Anyhow - just be warned. Make a reservation or risk bad treatment.
It’s now open again and the food is incredible. The fresh fish selection is great, views are beautiful and the staff are charming. Also the best salad I’ve had so far in Cape Town. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed the food here! The staff were friendly and there was a lovely view of the ocean. There are also birds that scavenge for food, and while some people asked the waiters to scare them away, most people did not mind them.
I had lunch there with a friend when we visited cape point. The experience was good! Fish wasn't over cooked, well battered and the chips were fresh, but not entirely what I expected - No wow factor. My friend had the mezze platter which she thoroughly enjoyed. Service was acceptable. Obviously at least 10% what you pay is for the view and let me tell you it's worth it! Vegetarian options: The mezze platter included a variety of Mediterranean influences. She enjoyed it.
The food was not as great as I expected it to be. Their menu is a disappointing actually. The waitress who served was nice but overall wait staff seemed overwhelmed.... one was outright rude to us male. Its got amazing views thoughFood: 3/5
Fantastic elegant restaurant. Great views of the ocean. The food was well presented and very tasty. A bit pricey, but definitely worth the experience.
