The place is nice and safe once you enter inside and the service of the workers is excellent. But let's talk about the waiting period for an approved visa...it's been 14 days with no communication from the consulate with regards to my visa. You can't get into the property for enquiries and the call centre is the most useless element in the whole structure.

I went to the embassy today for my interview. I plan to visit my daughter in Virginia in june. I read the reviews from other people and was a little stressed. So i was pleasantly surprised to see how efficient and simple the process was. Yes personnel are serious as they should be. Not everyone who is applying is above board. I had all the information as per the checklist. My interviewer was not interested in my documents. Asked me a couple of questions and gave me my yellow slip orange is a rejection Thank you for a great experience.

Very efficient and handling the queues well. Strict about not dropping off in front of gate. Park in parkade across the road. Make sure that documents are in order. Passport and photos. Strict about switching off cell phones and security is tight. Helped the pensioners quickly.

Very efficient once you get in, I was in and out in about 15 minutes for B1 visa appointment. Coming earlier than you scheduled appointment time helps a lot because you won't have to queue for long outside.

This is my experience for a b1/b2 visa I did in February 2023. The staff are generally nice and things do move quickly but be prepared for a long queue. Make sure you have your ds-160 form and passport together with a photo prepared before entering the consulate as the security will request it. Afterwards hand in your phone and any electronics at the security drop off. Head inside and go to the fingerprint and photo area. After finishing you will be told to wait outside for a few minutes while the line for the interview inside becomes less. After a bit you will be called inside and you will wait for about 5-10 mins for a consular officer to interview you. I got mine approved and I had my father sponsor me as we were travelling together. Yellow slip means your visa is approved and orange means your visa is refused. Good luck. * sometimes your documents might be requested but usually they won’t be. The onus will be on you to offer them your documents. I didn’t show any documents and still got approved but sometimes your case might be complicated and it might be easier to just back up your statements with a document/s.

Poor service, the flight was canceled because the visa was not ready after 17 working days which their policy states 10days,US embassy is useless because they don't want black people to go overseas,

Please read this before attending the Consulate: You must be extremely well prepared. Be prepared to explain your case quick and thoroughly. You only have 2-3min at the interview desk. They only ask 3 questions and then deny/accept. So constantly try to explain why you are going to the US. Make sure you mention why you will be returning back to South Africa and offer to show them a supporting document for each statement you make. They will not ask for your documents and will not look at them if you do not give it to them. I hope this helps. Good luck. Stay confident.

Went for the 2nd time and still not approved. Reason FAMILY TIES. My family were born and raised in South Africa. I am 1 of 7 children, have 4 kids and 3 grand children. Own poperty and everything point that I want to come back to South Africa.
