Went to this doctor based on a referral from a Afrikaaner friend, to have my wisdom teeth removed. Process took over 3 months, with 2 different surgeries. Doctor doesn't care about your pain levels or urgency and will make you wait for a surgery date mine was 2 months. Two months of sitting in pain, waiting to be operated on. When I described my symptoms and where my pain was located, he was patronizing and said that "There was no way that my wisdom teeth was causing pain from my jaw to the base of my neck." After my operations the pain was miraculously gone. Wonder how that happened if it wasn't the wisdom teeth sitting on a nerve hey? Apart from having two separate surgeries for each set, two months apart from one another. I was informed that surgeries would not proceed until bills were paid upfront. They do not claim from the medical aid for out of hospital patients. You need to pay the amount upfront and then claim back from your medical aid. I agreed to this with my first surgery which came to R3 500 and then when I asked to pay 50% upfront for the second surgery and 50% after because I couldn't afford to fork out that amount upfront but desperately needed help because I was in so much pain. I was told that there was nothing they could do because the doctor had refused and that they could reschedule for when I was able to pay the amount No empathy for your patients whom you leave in pain for months. Only willing to help you if you're able to pay upfront. White patients are given special treatment and offered payment options when their medical aid does not cover in hospital surgery but not those of color. I guess the color of you skin determines your trustworthiness and whether you deserve to be assisted in dire situations or not. All those of colour can suffer in pain or die for all he cares. Don't get me wrong, his surgical skills are good and I have healed well but the blatant difference in treatment between people of color and Afrikaaners is crazy. I would never recommend this man to anyone. Especially people of color. He doesn't care about you, your health or the pain you're in. See someone else. Your money will be better spent that way.

Very bad bedside manner. Not too concerned about the level of pain you are experiencing. Will not be back.

First doctor that want his money paid upfront - not paid on the day, but cleared in his bank before procedure. Worst treatment I have ever had at a specialist - they treat and talk to you as if you are 5 years old.

Best service and real care. I had 4 of my wisdom teeth removed by Dr vd Westhuijzen 02/04/2018, he is professional and takes time to explain everything which is not something you get from all doctors. Additionally, the administrator at the office, Anchen, is a true gem, she helped me with the arrangement and made the entire painful process better. If you are a bit skeptical or plainly scared like I was, this is the place to be! I truly received optimal care at a affordable price.
