We have a Restaurant and a Farm shop available.
We offer picnic baskets, which has to be booked 1 day in advance.

We had a beautiful day out at Van Gaalen Cheese farm. We opted to do the 10km hike which was very easy, set along the river and walking through beautiful pecan nut plantations and farms. There are varying routes from 2km up to a 12 km trail run along the river. I found it to be clearly marked and many photo opportunities along the way. Cost: R40 per person, children under 12 are free. You may not picnic with your own picnic on their premise so we did a small offering out our car boot. Cheese tours , a restaurant and small shop are all available on the premise. A super outing for the family.
We enjoyed a glorious hike with the plan of walking the 10 km river route. Unfortunately one of our team stumbled and fell, breaking her shoulder. We are grateful for the information provided on the arm bands with contact detail for Victor, who provided transportation back to Van Gaalen base. We look forward to our next hike, being more aware of where feet are placed. The entrance fee of R50 is money well spent.
If you are looking for a great place to spend the day out with your family, I think Van Gaalen is a place to visit. They offer a number of activities for young and old, there is a mountain bike and hiking trail for those with energy to burn, the trail runs past a lovely stream. They have a nice safe play area for the little ones.You can do a tour of the cheese factory. Their menu is well priced and the staff are friendly. Don't forget to visit the cheese shop on your way out.
Such a fabulous spot - you can order a picnic basket and sit next to the river to enjoy it. Or cycle up the mountain. The service was ATROCIOUS!!!! Lots of waiters and 2 managers and we still had to wait for service. Cheese and meat platter for 2 R220 - delicious!
Lovely venue/farm and cheese factory. Good tour and walking trails. If you book the tour online I still recommend go early and pay so you get a spot. They get full. You get to taste a few cheeses on the tour.
We did the Wine on Route hike. Great fun, great walk and very nice surrounds. The pizza was excellent! Children thooroughly enjoyed the foefie slide and play park. Very nice day out!
A friend and I had walked on one of the hiking trails offered by Van Gaalen Cheese Farm, I would really recommend this hiking trails, it's very well marked out, and the scenery is breathtaking!
A lovely day spent in this beautiful hidden gem. If you love nature and some good cheese then this is the place for you. People are friendly and so are the cute animals running around xD. I wish it was closer so I could visit more often.Food: 4/5
Fantastic gem of a place just outside Hartbeespoort. A fantastic menu and everything to do from experiencing the cheese factory to hiking and mountain biking to take in the lovely scenery. Definitely a one of a kind.
Fun stop when in the are with good foods and hiking trails with mountain biking as well. Kids play areas that allow adults to enjoy the outdoors while kids playAtmosphere: 4/5
